    General Fight Club

I definitely prefer mayhem devil of the two. Devil is just more interesting to me whereas Judith is very tidy and efficient. If you want the cleanest and most powerful go with Judith, but Devil can bridge a few themes like aristocrats, artifact, lands...not just creature strategies....it’s a...

General Embrace the Chaos / Cube Occasionals

I'm always flirting with overdesign... Some things I've started to think about more closely: Lowering the power level, and removing clear autopicks. I've elaborated here. When I'm not taking all of a card's attributes into consideration. It's simple enough to throw Anax, Hardened in the Forge...

    General CBS

A lot of goodies have been printed in the last few years to allow lower power levels to flourish and still maintain a high level of dynamism and nuance. It feels like card interactions and synergy can be woven like a tapestry these days. Whereas just simply supporting an archetype like...

    Card/Deck Low Power Card Spotlight

Sacrifice and putting lands in graveyards go hand in hand with graveyard themes Imo. It’s easy to increase the intentionality of Running cards like Wildfire, Xinye, Devastating Dreams, etc Lower powered land destruction I like: Magus of the Balance Fall of the Thran And I’m not sure if this is...

    General +1/+1 counters in 2020

cultivator of blades champion of lambholt anafenza, kin-tree spirit varolz, the scar-striped varolz is a one card archetype that bridges sacrifice, dredge, and delirium themes tying counters into the “creaturefall” theme is one of the more interesting selesnya archetypes to me..fabricate...

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

Sublime Archangel How are we feeling about this card these days? Looking for some anchor cards for Selesnya....and I like the way Archangel ties in Convoke and Tokens with Double-Strike creatures like Adorned Pouncer and Solemn Recruit as well as other effects that want to use your creatures...

    General Tap/untap Archetype

Here is a fun list from my peasant experiment: Ones 1 Gideon's Lawkeeper 1 Law-Rune Enforcer 1 Ephemerate 1 Gryff's Boon Twos 1 Sunhome Stalwart 1 Steward of Solidarity 1 Thermo-Alchemist 1 Whitemane Lion 1 Young Pyromancer 1 Dragon Fodder 1 Raise the Alarm 1 To Arms! 1 Shrine of Loyal...

General How to execute a minimalist Artifact theme

I really like the black deck! Recombiner is some neat tech, I’ve seen it run in some other lists that I follow, but I always thought it’d suffer from the stoneforge mystic issue of not having an adequate density of targets...Changeling surely mitigates some of that. Like with Trinket Mage, I...

    Card/Deck Wx Cycling

Bag is very cool. Good call! It’d have good tension in my cube because the exile is a real risk if it gets blown up....works great with: desecrated tomb Syr Konrad, the grim Since it allows the discarded card to hit the graveyard before exiling

    Card/Deck Wx Cycling

this is what I’m finding. I always had strong discard theme in my graveyard cube, but it wasn’t until I started dropping the power level down that I realized how rich the theme could be.

    Card/Deck Wx Cycling

I'm a big fan of the cycling deck in a lower powered format. I've been considering Hoofprints as the second buildaround to Astral Drift, and think it might be less narrow than Astral Slide. Not a fan of Fox, Healer, or Cairn, personally...Drake Haven feels like the correct power level for a...

    Card/Deck Low Power Card Spotlight

I love it, and have run it for years as my second wildfire effect. Great overlap with madness/discard themes...since the wurms can survive It. X usually equals two or three, and can actually be pretty unfair depending on your support cards.

    General "Lower-Powered" Pivot Cards

Similarly, tuktuk the explorer Which adds some artifact overlap....it’s fair as it is a bit harder to abuse since the token is legendary. Great with wildfire and other sweepers

    General "Lower-Powered" Pivot Cards

I don't know how I forgot Sevinne's Reclamation....it's easily one of my favorite cards in recent printing. I'm experimenting with Quasiduplicate in a lower powered draft, and I'm liking it so far. It's especially fun in decks I have that are heavy mill and recur something interesting via...

General An auto-pick in synergy's clothing

My argument is really just how these cards become more of an auto-pick the more you scale down your power, and trying to loosely map out the point in which these cards become more problematic for an environment. Your sample 8-pack includes: The best burn spell ever printed One of the best...

    General "Lower-Powered" Pivot Cards

Porting this question over from the An auto-pick in synergy's clothing thread, because it probably deserves its own topic. I think it'd be helpful to use lower-powered loosely here. For reference, the discussion started to circle around Pia and Kiran Nalaar as a benchmark for a higher-powered...

General An auto-pick in synergy's clothing

More good points. I appreciate creating space for the normal decks to operate which is important to allow for drafters of a wider range of experience to enjoy a cube. It's interesting to consider the tradeoffs (like what shams posted moments before this) for operating at a higher power level...

General An auto-pick in synergy's clothing

sorry for the double post, but I just thought of another card I wanted to discuss: Rankle, Master of Pranks Thoughts on this one? It’s so freakin rad, but I never want to pick another card over it :D I thought it might be more fair than braids because it can’t hit lands, but it hits pretty...
