I'm really not into using one of my Gold slots on a Smokestack variant. I don't think 4 real enablers, almost all of which cost 4 mana, is really enough to make a deck work.

Usman said it was good on Twitter. I'm looking at trying it as well. 4 mana for a 4/2 that doesn't cost you a card to play seems pretty good in my opinion. The "drawback" isn't something that most decks that would play something like this care about- they want to be swinging in and hitting anyway.

Quick question- have you ever played a "free to play" game with heavy microtransactional elements? These games are so fundamentally warped to encourage the constant purchase of loot boxes where that you pretty much can't play the game reasonably without paying up. They have things like "waiting"...

It's not the same as that. You can play most video games with loot boxes like Fortnite, Clash Royale, and presumably this new MTG MMO without being forced to spend a dime. Because of this, lootbox games are incentivized to make a worse gameplay experience for people who aren't constantly dumping...

They just make the game less fun by pressuring the user into spending more money on stuff to either make the game easier or faster by giving them an advantage over other players in some fashion.

This is so true. Now, testing a new set is less "what cards do I cut to make room for the new cards" and more "what new cards that are definitely cube worthy can I skip on this time?" -Cries in Embercleave-

I usually don't like to say that "there's power creep in magic" since most of the insanely powerful cards weren't even printed in this millennia, but like, Power creep. Infinite 2/3s is so good...
