My issue with equipment in general, and especially the Swords/Jitte/Batterskull/Wargear, is that it doesn't really care what you put it on. If I have SoFaI against a UR deck, any Squire becomes a serious threat; I'd gladly take Sword + a random creature over any carefully chosen combo...

The Limited point goes strongly against the consensus - Ixalan was a massive dud but Amonkhet + Hour is regarded as one of the GOAT formats, as was Shadows + Eldritch Moon (and I'm partial to BFZ + OGW myself). It's worth noting though that all of these were much worse in their single set formats.
