Yeah, I'm significantly higher power level than ravnic* and the last draft I did the response to those cards - though I don't have Omarthis - was "aw man I could have had all three" from the monogreen drafter who passed, but didn't wheel, the third one. They're really good! You shouldn't be...

Huh. That's a Heroes of the Realm, right? Cause I've never seen it before in my life. Yeah ok the set code matches M'Odo, the Gnarled Oracle. That is actually a weird (but sweet) spell - kills from 16 sometimes, makes treasures, split second for no reason.

Asking about red spells went super well so I'm gonna try again with this specific one because it's been tempting me since someone pointed me to it up there: Call Forth the Tempest oh my god I wrote up an entire post and then I saw that this said "each creature" and not "each opponent" never...

sure, but what's the other 80% of the draft pool :marofl: (really though this is cool as heck)

I really like Lose Focus which was not on the list. It's not actually in my list either at the moment, just making sure you knew about it.

Sets (LTR) The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle Earth

Sort-of-partial counterpoint: not all the X Matters cards are like that these days. One of these four was a major "cycling matters" draft buildaround in its set, but you probably can't tell which if you don't already know: Green Goblin, Nemesis Monument to Endurance Containment Construct...

The Soul Stone If this cycle is tight enough that they all cost two, I guess at least they don't actually fix your mana. Whatever. I don't like it.

I came back to this thread to say that I told myself so - had a Devastating Onslaught draft deck on Arena last night. Lost a game to Devastating Onslaught. Then won a game with Devastating Onslaught. It was hilarious. Deck wasn't good - partially because I severely overvalued Plasma Bolt...

Not sure if it fits what you're going for, but there's Galadriel's Dismissal - two modes of "save my creature" and "falter you Parallax Wave style", so it's not really a fun value engine or anything, but I love modal spells.

I was recently made aware of Contest of Claws and while it's not strictly Eldrazi-flavored it definitely works well with having an enormous idiot in play...

or we can just have surveil lands with cycling 2 or karoos with basic land types that sometimes come in untapped gotta admit I didn't expect those :marofl:

Depends on the definition of "better", I'd assume - a triome is "better" than a shock but if I'm a Kird Ape aggro deck I really want Stomping Ground specifically but if I don't have the Ape then why not take Copperline Gorge or maybe I have Thought-Knot Seer so I need Karplusan Forest (get it...

I never listen to podcasts but I would immediately read a transcript - and I assume there are not enough of me to make it worth the time to produce one but I'm sounding off anyway! - because I am legitimately interested in knowing what every person involved had to say.

(really though, if two people decide to go in on the same archetype, that makes the draft more and not less interesting, right?)

You say that, but it took twenty years after Shelldock Isle for WotC to be like "we could put a number on this" and print Rabble Rousing. It's just sensible futureproofing!

Gravecrawler is the spell I think I've seen singleton-breaking here most often. There's just nothing like it (plus it works with itself in multiples!) in terms of cheap black recursive creature.
