No, because with Glare you can't tap lands. Glare is what opposition wanted to be.

I agree with Onderz. I cut vortex from my cube because I didn't think aggro needed the extra boost. It is a card that I might bring back in the future, though.

Because the nonblue one can't tap lands.

There is so much wrong with these three sentences it makes my head hurt. First, just because you're playing a linear deck doesn't mean that the whole game is linear. There are tons of Magic decks where decision making is front and center. My favorite example of this is Death and Taxes in...

    Sets [ELD] Throne of Eldraine

Would anyone be upset if I made a new Throne of Eldraine spoiler thread when we get some previews? The set code is ELD and it really bothers me that ours is tagged as [TOE]

Ghoultree Any thoughts on this guy? He looks like a fun reanimator target that dredge decks can also just hardcast. He also has surprisingly relevant creature types.

I mean, the first part of the statement sounds like magic, but not anything regarding the design. Unless you're playing a really bad starter deck, Magic games are not on auto-pilot. Even super linear strategies like Boros burn in modern have more options and more complexity than most Hearthstone...

    General Speculation-Thread

So, Throne of Eldrane is right around the corner, and I would like to predict the color of the new Planeswalker Oko: Here's his story description ripped from the MTGS wiki: So that's... interesting. In addition... So... he turns Garruk into his dog??!! That seems really, really cool. So...

Hipsters of the Coast has only marginally more journalistic integrity than Unsleeved Media did back when he was terrorizing the Magic community. The opinions argued on that site shouldn't be given much weight. As for Owen Turtenwald... Who cares? He's not even playing Magic again. Obviously...

I think we need to subscribe to the Hank Green philosophy and run our potential names in front of a focus group of 12-year olds so that they can come up with all the worst insults for us. Actually, there's a lot of good naming tips in here.

    The Magic Crumble Pie

Backdraft Hellkite looks really fun. Fledgling Dragon looks like the type of card that players would ignore because it looks weak without considering the other synergies in the cube. I almost suggested Territorial Hellkite, but he hits really hard and has haste. He might be a little too...

Ok, even excusing the fact that in current American culture naming a boy Anne would probably get them bullied at school, it's still not something I'd want to name my hypothetical kid regardless of gender. Like, it's not a bad name, but it's pretty basic. I'm a big fan of the name Scarlett for...

Zurgo Bellstriker is actually kind of sweet. I completely forgot this card existed.

Yeah... If I named my theoretical son Anne or Thijmen, he'd get bullied. I think we should all just agree that all boys names are terrible except for...

The body isn't good, but I think this card is more of a combo-engine enabler than a generic value creature. You can get a lot of value out of this guy if you build your deck around him.

Why would I tag Brushwagg when I was clearly trying to talk about Elspeth? Like Daan, Bram, and Sem? Those are only marginally better than Larry...

    The Magic Crumble Pie

They're definitely both cards that have terrific ceilings. It's just that the floor on them is kind of meh. Unless I were in a very specific deck, I'd probably want a Thunderbreak Regent before needletooth or hound unless I already had a shell to make them work.

That's ultimately the problem with control magic effects. 4-5 mana is too cheap of a cost to steal something, 6+ mana is usually too late in the game to be really impactful. There's no good middle ground cost wise... ...hence why I Lay Claim. The cycling fixes the issue of having a dead card...

    The Magic Crumble Pie

I'm a big fan of Thunderbreak Regent, although it would probably be your second best red 4 in a way which is not favorable towards the bottom two. I like it as a burn finisher a lot though. Keiga seems like she could be very annoying. I'm a bigger fan of Icefall Regent for my blue dragon, since...
