I came back to this thread to say that I told myself so - had a Devastating Onslaught draft deck on Arena last night. Lost a game to Devastating Onslaught. Then won a game with Devastating Onslaught. It was hilarious. Deck wasn't good - partially because I severely overvalued Plasma Bolt...

Not sure if it fits what you're going for, but there's Galadriel's Dismissal - two modes of "save my creature" and "falter you Parallax Wave style", so it's not really a fun value engine or anything, but I love modal spells.

I never listen to podcasts but I would immediately read a transcript - and I assume there are not enough of me to make it worth the time to produce one but I'm sounding off anyway! - because I am legitimately interested in knowing what every person involved had to say.

Gravecrawler is the spell I think I've seen singleton-breaking here most often. There's just nothing like it (plus it works with itself in multiples!) in terms of cheap black recursive creature.
