I like the up to 2*X idea! Depends a lot on your environment but now that I think about your other custom: that would be 3 artifacts turn 2 and swinging for 12 damage the turn after, without safety valves. That's quite a bit.

If you want the second card to be more open ended/powerful you could also word it "Treasures/ (artifact) tokens you control become...". Would definitely make me more excited to draft it/play with it! Otherwise the effect might feel a bit weak as a 3/1 for 3 mana that you have to sac at eot and...

I don't think it needs trample if it goes in the wildfire deck, they should have no blockers :D. I like the design though!

One of the cards from the leaks that cought my eye is this glorious bread and butter amalgamation of: Satyr Way finder Eternal Witness Rampant growth (I might be exaggerating a bit, but I love it next to Winding Way in my cube.)

An explanation for Thraben Inspector could also be that it was picked very early but the player then switched colors putting it in a perpetual Sideboard state ;)! And since its (usually) so popular you would not see it late/wheel it to make more decks.

That may be, a sample size of 3 for me is also not very robust ;). I somehow ended up in Selesnya twice and was playing 18-20 creature decks. Work out nicely once, not so well the second time. Maybe I'm also just not picking removal high enough.

The only gripe I have with the story is that part 2 seems to cram every relevant bit of information on what happened after the phyrexian invasion into one story and therefore feels a bit disjointed. But I agree that the story is otherwise well written and worth a read.
