Dead-Eye Navigator Good luck keeping it enchanted!

    Sets [FIN] [UB] Final Fantasy

I like this one! It’s a cheaper and easier to cast Future Sight with board impact. Nice!

All of these saga creatures literally have Fading N, where N is the number of chapters.

    Card/Deck Low Power Card Spotlight

Just bold and underline minor changes, and use the Arena treatment if the change is bigger (i.e. functionally different)!

    Sets [FIN] [UB] Final Fantasy

You don't flip all the coins at once. Mirror Match lets you flip coins until you lose one flip. That means you flip one coin, and if you win, you get to flip another one, but if you lose the streak ends. You card doesn't ask you to choose an arbitrary number of flips and see how many of those...

    Card/Deck Low Power Card Spotlight

Close enough, I would say. Edit: Plus WotC has been known to add keywords to cards. E.g. Aesi, Tyrant of Gyre Street. No landfall: https://scryfall.com/card/cmr/365/aesi-tyrant-of-gyre-strait Yes landfall: https://scryfall.com/card/dsc/210/aesi-tyrant-of-gyre-strait

General [Almost Daily] Every Set in Magic, Cube Edition

There's a lot I don't like about Mirrodin Besieged, like the overpowered bombs and the nasty infect mechanic. The set has two really nice cards, though, that I do enjoy a lot! Signal Pest This one is my absolute favorite! Great for aggro decks, great for ninja's, great for artifact synergy...

General [Almost Daily] Every Set in Magic, Cube Edition

I can stomach this set’s art direction a lot better than Final Fantasy’s one, proving it’s not futuristic stuff that bothers me, I guess. I run a couple of cards from this set, and greatly enjoy them! Caesar, Legion’s Emperor has already been mentioned, but it’s a perfect top end for Mardu...

    Card/Deck Low Power Card Spotlight

Vigilance and evolve shouldn’t be on the same line, but other than that, spot on! Sharp-Eyed even!

General [Almost Daily] Every Set in Magic, Cube Edition

There is a lot going on in this set, but mechanics-was not much I really took interest in. I heard Displacer Kitten is a fan favorite, but I’ve never tried it because it doesn’t really make sense in my cube. That said. I do have a few hidden gems in my cube! Greatsword of Tyr This is a...

General [Almost Daily] Every Set in Magic, Cube Edition

For a core set, this has quite some bangers that still hold up nowadays! While Preordain undoubtedly is the most important card from this set, I'm going to highlight one of my favorite cards that hasn't been talked about yet. Steel Overseer This little guy single-handedly elevates artifact...

General [Almost Daily] Every Set in Magic, Cube Edition

I have run stuff from the set, but that’s been a long time ago. C15 has no special place in my heart. I will say screw Meren of Clan Nel-Toth. Her play patterns were atrocious in my cube.

General What are the hallmarks of a "riptide-style" cube to you?

This is exactly it. Riptidelab was for people dissatisfied with the best in slot doctrine that was common on the MTG Salvation forum. I think Riptidelab was one of the first public places where cube became synonymous with "custom draft format", and all that that entails, rather than "a 360 card...

    Cardboard by the Numbers

Totally fair! The main reason I did an "um, actually" is because Train might use it in their podcast, and you just know people are going to yell over the internet if the math is off :p

    Cardboard by the Numbers

Going to be a math nerd here and say 21% over three years is not the same as 7% annually. 7% annually would amount to a growth of 100 * 1.07 * 1.07 * 1.07 =~ 122.5% over three years. Close, but not the same! :)

    Sets [FIN] [UB] Final Fantasy

Typically the Wx control decks like to run artifact mana to power out Wrath effects ahead of the curve. I totally missed the interaction with dies triggers though, that’s really neat!

General [Almost Daily] Every Set in Magic, Cube Edition

YOU PUNY MORTAL! ARE YOU DISSING THE POWER OF DINOSAURS?! I DARE YOU TO REPEAT YOUR INSIGNIFICANT OPINION TO MY FACE! Zacama, Primal Calamity Besides the Lord of Lizards himself, I also still run Raging Regisaur, which is just useful and interesting enough, while being a simple design, that I...

General [Almost Daily] Every Set in Magic, Cube Edition

I love how everyone ignored J25 and just kept posting cool Masques cards. It should come as no surprise that I kinda hate the set for its art direction. There are numerous cool designs there that I don’t run because I don’t want to be forced to run anime art. I also don’t run any OTC cards...

    Sets [FIN] [UB] Final Fantasy

I do wonder who this card is for (other than my Aminatou, the Fateshifter deck). In Commander your opponents are just going to piggyback off each other, denying you anything but the first trigger

    Sets [FIN] [UB] Final Fantasy

That’s why I voiced my personal disappointment but also said I’m glad it does resonate with others. To each their own. I do sincerely hope the success of this IP won’t sway WotC to adopt anime as the main art style for their main sets, because it’s really, really not my jam.
