Ooh, which one didn't you like?

Very much yes. I thought it was an interesting world lorewise, and there's a ton of potential to improve the designs. Soulshift, ninjutsu, and sweep had interesting play patterns to them.

Zac Hill lead the development for M13 and Dragon's Maze, he's never led a design team (source). Doug Beyer was actually the design lead for M13, and it's the only set he ever was the design lead for. The lead designer for Innistrad was Mark Rosewater, who has led more design teams than I can...

Agree with Rasmus. Also, welcome! Also also, I dig your avatar :D

Whip is a horrible card, mainly for the team-wide lifelink, as sigh noted. Also, historic doesn't count only artifacts. If you are going to include any saga's and already run some playable legends in UR, Jhoira might actually be a really good anchor.

They actually did this for... Fates Reforged I think? Every booster had a guaranteed dual, which was a common (Thornwood Falls and friends), with a chance for a rare (Breeding Pool and friends). I have to disagree here. Great fixing is great for every draft format, even those not focused on...

Of course they are, but it'ld be interesting to see what his answer is. Really, the only two legitimate reasons he can give are "because we always have printed them at rare" and "because it's a good way to sell packs". I don't think he'ld be that honest, but still :)

From a historical point of view, it's understandable that they print dual lands at rare. They always have, and it has probably served them well. Good duals sell sets. From a player's perspective, however, the mana base is a restrictive entry barrier to constructed Magic, and I believe the...

    General Advice on Smoothing

Lands like Evolving Wilds are a good starting place, I think. In addition, smoothing mechanics like cycling, scry, and morph can help.

Well, the design definitely feels rare, but as a commander player I would have welcomed the full cycle at uncommon.

Yes! It's awesome with enough support, but it does need a fair amount of discard outlets!

Your potions are definitely more flavorful than the trigons!

Is a 1/2 flying for {2}{u} an acceptable floor though?

They remind me of the trigons.

I was so close to mentioning the Freebooter myself. I rate Collective Brutality slightly higher, but Freebooter has been excellent for me as well. It's way more relevant than yould expect of a "worse" Brain Maggot clone. Both the evasion and the creature type make a huge difference!

Really? What qualities does Magic possess that it actively makes peoples lives worse then? And which of those qualities can really be attributed to Magic, and wouldn't exist (in some other form) if Magic didn't exist?

General Pick 3: Cards Since Battle for Zendikar

Yeah, what sigh said. I was not referring to Tetsuko being a lock piece, I meant that the card is going into my cube for sure. Burning Vengeance is also a very cool payoff card, but it is indeed at odds with Rise. I think both are great fun, and if your spells from the graveyard theme works and...

General Pick 3: Cards Since Battle for Zendikar

Yeah, it's not very good on its own, but with the right support, like the Pyromancer sigh mentioned, or a bunch of saprolings, it can break board stalls like nobody's business! It's pretty much a lock for my cube.

I have only very limited experience with Dominaria, but I do have a nominee from the new set. Tetsuko Umezawa, Fugitive This has been absolutely delightful, especially when paired with random 3/1 haste men!
