I think you've seen these Saf, but if you are looking into custom wastelands, here's some ideas (Or at least pre-done names/arts): A few of these accidentally end up countering fetchlands, and some stop opponents cycling their lands? (Just seems cruel TBH), so your mileage may vary

My eventual solution to the "wasteland problem" was to just call all wasteland esque cards at all, let me know if you reach something different!

The issue with pulling from the cube is you'll need to filter through the unused portion of the cube, pull out all the creatures, sort them by CMC, and THEN random out a creature. A deckbox you have off to the side of random creatures, presorted reduces that set a lot.
