    Article ChannelFireball: Utility Land Draft

YAY! Land utility draft article! Huh. It's scary: your cycle of fixers in your land pile (4 WWK manlands + Horizon Canopy + 5 EVE filters) is exactly the same as the ten fixers that I run in my main cube alongside my fetches and shocks. Something about great minds, mumble mumble mumble. I...

    Hex TCG MMO

That'd be the one. I backed the project, to the tune of $50. WHAT HAVE I DONE SHOULD I JUST HAVE BURNED MY MONEY

    Hex TCG MMO

Oh man. Oh man oh man oh man. Hmmm. Let me back up and start from the top. This thread isn't about cube. This isn't even about Magic. This is about a Magic clone that's built from the ground up to function entirely online, with a healthy dose of MMO trappings surrounding the procedures. It's...

    Other Games

Oh, man. Great topic. I could write gobs about this, but because I'm at work, I'll just start with a brief list: Dominion is excellent. Grandfather of all the deckbuilding games, and still amongst the best, even if it leans more towards the solitaire end of the spectrum than its successors...

Yeah, I'd rather play it safe and avoid heading into that territory. I know the salvation administrators keep a very tight rein on what they do and don't allow discussion of on their giant proxy-making thread, because it feels like they're always one post away from having Hasbro lawyers jump all...

I like it, too. I pretty much agree with all of Jason's points - I think the site banner needs to be really wide, but not that tall. I'm not sure where we can give the artist credit. Unlike with forum signatures, we can't really put his name up alongside the banner. I could potentially create...

    General Playing Favorites < 3

I will say that, out of all the planeswalkers, Garruk Wildspeaker is far and away the best designed. Dripping with flavour. Excellent power level, without being oppressive. Versatile as heck all. High on the fun factor scale. And some badass artwork, to boot.

    General Playing Favorites < 3

Like Jason, I don't really have what I'd call favourites. I love 'em all. But this is what I'm feeling right now. Overall: Dauntless Dourbark. One of the first decks I put together upon returning to Magic in 2008 was what an opponent dubbed "Big Angry Treefolk" as very large green men rumbled...

General Why did you start cubing?

My brother doesn't actively play Magic anymore, but he's back in town every Christmas for about two weeks. During that time, we get together and game a lot. Magic is one of those games we keep coming back to. Despite him not having played regularly in nearly fifteen years, Magic is still every...

    Jesse's Cube

This seems like a sweet cube! A lot of funky choices that I haven't seen in a long time, outside of their respective formats. I do think Switcheroo is a sweet one. The creature size appears to be a lot smaller than in your typical cube, and heck, than even in some typical limited environments...

General ChannelFireball: Learning from Legacy, Part 1

Really enjoyed that article too, Chris. Not many writers do the long form article thing well, but I thought the mix of storytelling and theory was very well done. We probably all know people like the one in your story. And ya, all of the oblique references make me feel like I'm missing...

Count me in as a fan of your more strong-worded articles. Articles are way more entertaining when you know they'll offend someone, especially if those someones are just plain wrong.

    Article ChannelFireball: Utility Land Draft

You know, when you listed Secluded Steppe up above, I actually thought it was Sejiri Steppe. It can kind of work as a pseudo-Falter, too, a la Smoldering Spires. One that I'm sitting on the fence about myself is Eiganjo Castle. Other than Isamaru and Thalia, though, are there a lot of legends...

    Article ChannelFireball: Utility Land Draft

Finally! A thread on this! I know you're scooping your own article to talk about this sweet idea, but I think people are bursting at the seams to discuss this. ;) Quick question. I noticed you have Gemstone Mines in your main list rather than in the utility pile. Any reason for that? I...

That is a spicy little number. I have to know: was Chandra, the Firebrand good in that deck?

Cube Tool cuesbey.com - purpose-built site for cube comparison

Awesome! Loving it! Some (very minor) bugs to report. When I compare our cubes head to head, a couple of cards appear to show up in the wrong sections: http://cuesbey.com/#/92b2a3ea-4758-4bb0-a229-dd35e749cace Blackcleave Cliffs is black. Knight of Glory is WB. Tandem Lookout is UR...

    CML's Cube (405, polychromatic)

Yeah, I should've mentioned that ramp is a heavily supported archetype in my cube - and near the top of the food chain, too - so Maelstrom Wanderer is a lot better here than it would be elsewhere. To be honest, Wanderer only barely counts as a red card in the same way Nicol Bolas is also barely...

We're all adults here, so feel free to speak your mind using the most creative language possible. The only thing I ask is that you refrain from posting NSFW images, because I suspect I'm not the only one who primarily browses the forum while on a work computer. But other than that, go nuts.

Card/Deck Mana rocks / Colourless mana fixing

This is a topic I've seen bubble up every now and then, and I'm always curious as to how other cube designers approach the issue of colourless mana fixing (i.e. mana rocks). How many do you include? Are there any that you exclude for power level concerns? Does the density of colourless fixing...
