I don't think Lotus Petal is good in cube. I mean, in your dreams cenario where you cast Emry turn 1 all you get is a Birds of Paradise that makes you discard a card. I would rather run any other trinket for Emry than the petal. And I love the Petal, mind you.

In my experience, you are never going to run Pod as a colorless card. You would kill yourself very quickly. You might splash it, though. I also think Pod is much more interesting than Collected Company. It's a real puzzle be it in draft, in deckbuilding or play. Collected Company is just value.
