    General Fight Club

"Better", but less interesting. Let's not go replacing the card with more interactions and lines of play for a vanilla substitute.

Article December 5th 8-man Cube Draft

I ended up maindecking all the non-creature cards there. Went heavy on the wrath plan, and cut all the creatures below 4CMC. Certainly in Pack 1 the draft was looking like a steaming pile, but technically I was open to all five colors.

    General Is this a deck?

Either way, it's not a deck, to answer the OP. I think this type of thing can be a component of a deck, with Leechridden Swamp being interesting because of fetchability, but, it's pretty inefficient as far as closing power goes.

    Card/Deck Birthing Pod

I think Dom was looking for Pod shenanigans in the draft. Specifically, a Delve card -> pod it into a 9 or 10 drop. Do we want these plays, and if so, which cards would work as pod targets (that would also see play elsewhere)?

    General Fight Club

Ruinblaster is probably more powerful, but Avalanche Riders has more interactions. Because I put such an emphasis on sacrifice effects, Riders is the more natural fit for my current list, but I ran Ruinblaster back in the day.

Singleton aside, what are we looking for in our discard spells?

    General Is this a deck?

Mox Diamond is great, and has lots of (okay, a few) interactions. Turn 1 Fetch, Mox Diamond, Life from the Loam is a perfectly fine start. One of the stronger ways to use it is to put out hard-to-remove permanents. Turn 1 Bitterblossom, that sort of thing.

    General Non-blue card advantage

It's more that you can strip the wrath out of their hand. They're not specifically anti-control, but I think they're more effective against control. If you can strip the wrath out of their hand your win percentage goes way up. Taking out any given aggro card (and losing 2 life in the process)...

    General Non-blue card advantage

I personally felt that the players in this draft were not taking fixing or splashing aggressively enough, and blue was super open. I got one pack with a two-card pack of Venser, Shaper Savant and Cryptic Command. I would have played Cryptic if I wasn't super overloaded on 4-drops, but did...

    General Non-blue card advantage

Note that red (and other aggro strategies) should have a large chunk of "virtual card advantage", defined as the difference in hand size when you kill them.

    General Non-blue card advantage

Someone made a comment about having difficulty fighting blue's card advantage. Wondering if there are things we can give to other colors. For my part, my deck really didn't want to see recursive threats. If someone had been hitting me with Hallowed Spiritkeepers and Shambling Remains and that...

    Eldrazi Domain Cube

I think Crystallization is the best option here. I actually already run gift of orzhova, and hobgoblins doesn't feel like where this cube wants to be.

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

Engineered Explosives is amazing. I run a super fast format, and it's great here. 3 mana, kill two aggro one-drops. 4 mana, wreck your bitterblossom. That happened tonight. EE sees play in high-powered constructed, and Ratchet Bomb sees play nowhere.
