Here is a conversation I had with Tafo on the topic: His response: Here's the Westballz set: https://www.reddit.com/r/smashbros/comments/3da5ny/a_silly_set_tempo_westballz_vs_shinobi_at_wtfox/

Card/Deck Someone sell me on Birthing Pod (but first, long backstory)

I am most satisfied with a loss when I walk away thinking "I wish I had done this differently".

Armada's recent character switch is "bad for the game". People, even people who don't play Melee competitively, know that Fox is the best player, and when you have WF Fox Ditto Mango - Leffen, LF Fox Ditto Mango - Armada, GF Fox Ditto Armada - Leffen I think it's bad for that appeal of the game...

General Decks that have 3-0'd your cube

I think you guys are kind of misunderstanding this guy. I've emailed him several times. He's very like... he goes to the beat of his own drum. The B and C cubes aren't actual cubes like you guys think about it, but just piles of cards that people can use for deckbuilding. Think the "utility...

Mmm, let's make more unfounded statements about EDH.

Are you an actual Leffen fan? I think competitive Melee is interesting, because I watch hours and hours of it every week, but I don't really have strong favoritism as a fan, like I do when I watch other games / sports. Armada winning wouldn't be a very compelling story line to me,but a Leffen /...

I was hoping that, in his explanation of the game, he would also try to sell me on the concept a bit. But I have made a habit of intentionally not Googling things on here, if nothing else but as a measure to drive the post count up.

Man, so many things have to go correctly for that card to be worthwhile. +1/+1 is fairly negligible, and you have to spend 4 mana for the first cast + equip. Also, there is a fairly small intersection between decks that want to attack a lot and decks that want to ramp. I think in general...

Get it? Single Card Spotlight? It's a Single Card and a Spotlight? Oh what's that, you got it and still don't think it's funny? Thanks meatwad.

I am a legitimate statistician but I can't be arsed to make these probability calculations, even though it would take so, so little time. I like giving vague estimations and having Zeeboot confirm them.

I can't see a 5-drop that just dumps power and toughness onto the board as being too risky to run at most power levels. I'd be more afraid of many other cube 5-drops hitting the other side of the table.

Should be noted that discarding a land is pretty mana-development neutral. You draw two cards, and you expect about 0.8 of them to be a land on average. You can even draw two lands off of it! You could probably insight on Turn 1 with a 2-land hand and have it not be completely unjustifiable.

I think it's too situational. Cube control decks would probably just prefer to board wipe and then play their creature. Besides, it's not like you can't set up similar things with a red sweeper. I don't see a home for it in cube.
