General How Much Burn is Too Much Burn

Also, Onderzeeboot, is this card not terrible? Meteorite Or is this part of some esoteric Tinker package?

General How Much Burn is Too Much Burn

For my money, burn is super interactive and is a huge key to the crowd favorites UR Tempo deck and UWR Control, both of which (the former more than the latter) have been known to finish off games with a lob to the face. They're also high demand and are inherently decision dense, and it's not...

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

I don't think it's oppressive, but the question is, does it make your games better? I can see what Lucas is saying about bad Madcap games, but I don't really have a clear verdict on this one.

    Article ChannelFireball: Utility Land Draft

Maybe, but it's added complexity that isn't really needed. It doess give me an idea though. Imagine you had a basic drafting game, and then in the "advanced" game there were also point cards. Say something with 3 points, 2 points and 1 point. Then after the draft you can redeem said points for...

Draw go playability likely depends on your density of instants. Sorcery speed removal makes counterspells worse. But I think the trend is likely true regardless, just accentuated in Eric's cube.

Article Cube Design - Tri-color Cards

I was a little confused by the presence of an "artifacts matters" subtheme, particularly with no Esper in sight. I'll come out and say that seeing something like Scuttling Doom Engine in a tricolor cube is a little weird. Personally I'd have an artifact count close to zero. Changes I would...

    Brainstorming: Microsealed Cube

I guess we could attack this from another angle. What do / don't you like about playing microsealed with a traditional cube, and how can we try to play up those strengths while abandoning weaknesses?

Delve is a weird mechanic because it's anti-synergistic with itself.

    General Multi-Colour\Gold Cubes

I do think there's a point where you have too much fixing. 70 is a lot. Not that it is bad to have it, but I can see drafting it becoming very tedious. But if you don't have enough, color screw determines a lot of games. I'd also point out that most of our cubes are already pretty multicolor...

    180 cards, 3 colour cube.

Loving these "protection from colors that aren't in the cube" suggestions. 3-color cubes are super fun to design. It's worth keeping in mind that you can't cover as wide a spectrum of themes as in a full cube. I'm not sure how best to handle the tension of "we only have 180 cards" and "it'd...
