    General Brainstorming: Microdrafting

Yeah, unfortunately (or not?) I have far too many of these ideas with no time to reasonably pursue them. BTW last night was my first cube playing with actual tokens (in color-coded sleeves no less!) and it was much better than having dice all over the table.

General It could happen in any number of formats

It's actually a pretty interesting card. Almost every time I drew it I felt like my opponent was bottlenecked on mana and often I would hold it for a couple turns and do other things in the meantime. Particularly tense when the opponent has a Figure of Destiny on board.

Devil's Play copied with Chandra the Fireband for 14. Flashback for lethal. Genesis Wave for 7 putting 30 something power on the board. Opponent casts Blasphemous Act next turn. Ramp player winning through Collective Restraint (Domain = 5) as if it wasn't there. Kessig Wolf Run + Zhur Taa...

    Eldrazi Domain Cube

Okay, this was suuuuper interesting. A lot of memorable stuff I tied in the finals (well, tied it in Game 4 of a Best of 3) with a RGb ramp deck. I have many thing to say. But mostly I discovered something really fundamental and really obvious about the game of Magic. Your decision density is...

    General Blue Aggro?

Man, I'd love to but I'm knee deep in a few other cube projects at the moment.

Article Top 8 Most Oppressive Cube Cards

There are indeed many factors, and I've seen people lose after casting Armageddon or simply get it stuck in their hand. In a lower CMC cube it's not the most overpowered, but it is particularly oppressive against decks that already struggle in my environment, high CMC decks. Maybe that's another...

    General Blue Aggro?

The inherent problem with tribal is that it is designed for environments where you take weak cards that become stronger via critical mass. It's mostly designed for retail draft environments and Standard, both of which translate pretty poorly to cube. It also puts you squarely into poison...

Article Top 8 Most Oppressive Cube Cards

There's a pretty big gap for Armageddon to succeed between the opponent "not doing anything relevant until Turn 4" and "not being ahead at the start of Turn 4". EDIT: I also get the feeling that many white aggro sections massively underperform without their signature card.

Armageddon sometimes produces super fun games and sometimes is like "oh, I guess we're done playing Magic already".

I don't know if it would help, but my eye wants a bit of white space between spells, nonbasics and basics.

General Decks that have 3-0'd your cube

Ah, it was just a case of me being on slow internet earlier. Carry on.

Fits the theme perfectly, but I don't know if it's powerful enough.

Upheaval was pretty non-OP in my cube and I'll probably put it back in soon. I run very little big mana stuff too. It was always a memorable spell, and sometimes you would just throw things back to everyone's hand as a reset button, without the assurance of a win lined up.

Yeah, multiplayer is a whole different beast. I can imagine it's way easier to abuse Upheaval there. I think a lot of these cards were a draw at first, but eventually the honeymoon phase ended and I started to see things in a different light.

    Eldrazi Domain Cube

Yeah, Hannes is bringing his Shocks tomorrow so I'll test out doubling down. If it's a good idea I'll buy an extra cycle at the end of the month. EDIT: Fully sleeved and 8 drafters lined up for tomorrow.

If we could create and host cube drafts with custom lists on MODO it would be the greatest thing ever. They can even charge Cube tickets for the event and give the host none of the profits. Build it and we will come. As is I spend $0 / month on MODO.

    General Brainstorming: Microdrafting

I've put more thought into this format and still thing it would be extremely fun, but think I need a web application to actually do the playing and deckbuilding through. Any takers?

Article Top 8 Most Oppressive Cube Cards

I once played a cube game where my opponent mulled to 6, played T1 Maze of Ith and cast his first spell on Turn 5 (Wrath of God) and won without any real effort. Hooray for having to overcommit to push damage through Maze then get punished into oblivion by one spell.
