Adventuring Gear is baller. Especially with Double Strikers and 20 fetchlands. But really, getting +2/+2 off of a single landfall trigger is often significantly better than Bonesplitter's +2/+0. The extra toughness enables creatures to win battles instead of trading.

Good cards win games, but Academy Ruins and Volrath's Stronghold are also a little slow. I don't mind when they take over a game every now and then. Slow decks need help in my cube anyways. In our cube everybody has lots of non-basics, but Wasteland isn't overwhelming or anything. Just...

Guy played a 3-pod 47 card deck. I didn't necessarily agree with his choice there. He wanted more creatures for his toolbox, but I think 40 is still the best line. He also had some rather unfortunate draws.

You mentioned to me elsewhere that you were waiting for complete cycles to make changes (e.g. you had 9 / 10 shocklands). Personally I would just run the cards you do have, and finish off the cycle when you get the last card.
