    [Design/Discussion] The Spiral

Is the idea to 'tutor' for corless sources by milling yourself and picking up the land from the yard? It's a neat take on the dilemma. Mostly it's matter of enough cards to be able to draft something functional. How many colorless eldrazi were you thinking of?

Considering the base case is usually a 4/3 that cantrips, it's pretty rough.

Doesn't fight spells lend themselves pretty good for this?

Is there any chance of seeing these old school decks in action? Wait, explain this to me. Nothing of the wording on the alpha lord of atlantis wording seems to indicate it wouldn't buff other lords of atlantis?

    Sets [KLD] Kaladesh Spoilers Thread

More artifact matters cards. This one seems to do one of the mechanic throwbacks of metalcraft without using the word. I initially thought the tutor mode was kinda cool, but if you need to have metalcraft for it to work, it seems like it would require a really dedicated cube.

    Card/Deck Format defining crap removal

No reason to shitpost when you can present a reasoning to why you think a certain way, thus making for further discussion. Laboratory Maniac can open up for certain styles of combo decks in the environments that allow it, and seeing as we're an open and welcoming forum with many different styles...

    Card/Deck Format defining crap removal

I agree with you absolutely. My point was that you can decide what your threats are going to be, and then a thread like this can help you get ideas for pairing those threats with removal. I'm not suggesting you start out with the removal, just that it's nice to know what your options are.

But doesn't a study like this give an opportunity to match threats with answers in a way that creates the desired style of games?

    Card/Deck Format defining crap removal

My thread title comes from volcanic hammer being a huge step down from lightning bolt. Depending on the speed of the format, efficient bounce could be fine. I'm also thinking probably you could do with a mix? Settle at a level of crap that is at a desired level relative to the cubes...

I'm curious about this, it's a premier what? Premier spell or premier bounce spell? I think Theros was a pretty good example of that, no? Griptide was one of the better spells to pick up to interact with your opponent in that format because of how bad the removal was and the fact that you...

I think this becomes an interesting example of high power spells low power creatures, which ahabhdans been trying out for a bit. As Grillo illustrates, the impact level of a card like show and tell can be capped by lowering the efficiency of your creatures.

murderous compulsion What's people's opinion on setting rules for what removal to include? I feel like you can find crappy removal either by its cost or its restrictions. There was a brief period until quite recently that WotC had almost all removal be like 4-5 cmc. I'm much happier now that...

    Retro Combo Cube

I must say, the idea of running low power creatures but pretty high power spells sounds great. I've been pretty intrigued by lower power (courtesy of Grillo) lately, but it does give up some of the flare that full power or the riptide 75% power has. It would seem as it really is the value...

volcanic hammer This is a card I know some people have talked about very favorably, and I tried it out in my 4-man grid cube and it did really well in giving auras and combat tricks more breathing room. So now I'm hungry for more excellent crappy removal that helps shape the format really...

Isn't there some more good mana rocks that are like 4-5 mana and upwards in cmc? I feel like that could be a pretty good signal, coupled with the big cmc targets, that there's some work to be done in mana accumulations for the drafters.
