As a side note: one thing that I'm always a little annoyed by is how they don't like to spoil Green's non-creature cards until later in spoiler season. I want to see what a Green Spree card looks like!

Train, I apologize for being short yesterday. I've been a bit stressed. ... I feel like the cowboy hats feel egregious because we just got finished with "all your favorite Ravnican characters do a murder mystery party": the set. It also feels like we're getting a frankly silly number of...

One of my pet peeves is when people use "Cube" as a synonym for "the specific kind of Cube I like building/curating". It comes off as kinda egotistical.

If I didn't explicitly set "no free value engines" as a rule for building my silly constrained cubes, that Jace would be pretty cool in a 237 cube. Some other cards that stood out as pretty cool: It slices! It dices! It's kinda absurd. Yeah, sure, a free Karnstruct with each creature if...

What card type are guns? I'm wondering if I should pack Defabricate when I play at your table...

That certainly looks like an... *ahem*... "motivational device".

Is there anything people playing your cube can do while the staring contest happens?

You only got one right - Spiritdancer's a Wizard, Virtuoso is a Rogue, and Fencer is a Druid. No, I don't know either.

Tetzimoc has the funniest bad combo, though: Generous Patron "You get a prey counter! And you get a prey counter! Everyone gets a prey counter!"

So, it's been a while, and I'm not full-up on mental energy so I'm not going to go into a ton of detail, but I felt like I should clarify why I think that creatures getting better has had negative effects. In my mind, the problem comes from two interrelated problems — the overall clock has sped...

Spreading Seas also messes with their colors. To be clear, I am not part of the contingent that thinks that Spreading Seas or Lithoform Blight are inappropriate in a bounceland format. Sure, it feels kinda bad when your bounceland gets Seas'd, but it also feels kinda bad when villain makes you...

    Card/Deck Low Power Card Spotlight

From experience, stuff like Cleansing Wildfire on a bounceland feels strong but not back-breaking, unlike the sheer brutality of undoing two whole land drops. If I was going to make a land denial strategy in a bounceland format, I'd look for these kinds of cards: Vedalken Plotter Contamination...

    General Custom Cards: The Lab

On the topic of big spells, I built a casual deck around these guys when Strixhaven came out: Living Lore Torrent Sculptor It used expensive spells with cheap cycling costs (like Boon of the Wish-Giver or Treacherous Terrain) alongside stuff like Magma Opus in order to make those guys into big...

    Sets (PIP) Fallout Commander Previews

The thing is that Bombardiers isn't busted in the context of Commander, because you have three times the number of opponents and everyone has double the normal life total. Games are also way slower in general unless you're looking at CEDH.

From when I've played with it, it just straight up vomits tokens onto the battlefield if you have any support for any of those tokens. If you don't, it's just a naff creature. I'm not sure that it's a good card for Cube.

If tokens are just bodies in your cube and you don't care about the types, you can just sharpie out the types and run one 1/1 white creature token.

Dang it, WotC, why do you keep printing mechanics that are stupidly interesting, especially for my silly 2-3-7 projects (which I'll get back to at some point, I swear)? Plot's probably one of my favorite mechanics that I've seen in a hot minute.

The trick there is to focus on stuff where it's incredibly obvious whether or not the boost applies. Compare Silverfur Partisan to Rotlung Reanimator - it's almost always going to be really obvious whether or not a creature is a Wolf/Werewolf, but, like... here's the art and name of four White...
