I really like the Loamspeaker as a mana dork that still does something when you don't need to ramp anymore. As for the Firestorm... I wonder if we're just going to get a cycle of volver-style kicker cards, or if kicker is a more general mechanic?

I have a cube that's very heavy on kicker cards, because they help fill in the gaps in the curve left by my MV restrictions. So I hope we get some more mono-colored kicker cards, and not just shard ones.

True... but I feel like sticking with the challenge is a good thing, as long as the challenge is possible.

After thinking about it with a less-sick head, I agree. Which raises the further question of whether or not custom cards also violate the spirit of the cube... I feel like they kinda do, because part of the exercise is pulling from a less-than-ideal set of cards.

Dumb question (I am sick, so brain no work good): How cheap would it feel if I included a cards like Ghor-Clan Rampager/Goblin Free-Runner/Ironhoof Boar/ in my "only MVs 2, 3, and 7 are allowed!" cube, if I also constrained it so that you could only "cast" them for their alternate costs? I'm...

I mean, the thing is that a lot of the digital-only cards feel like candidates for Why MTG Cardsmith, so that's probably where they belong. :p More seriously: most of the digital-only cards that are actually conceptually interesting enough to try out in paper need a few tweaks before they work...
