That'll do it!

I'm not sure it's a problem either, but I think there are valid reasons to be concerned about the proliferation of variants. First, a similar expansion of weird variants marked an era of desperation and decline in the baseball card market, and even if the purpose of the cardboard is...

Sounds good to me given those goals! You could also make it a little asymmetrical, with things like the following. NAME Land T: Add B T, pay 1 life: Add X T, pay 2 life: Add Y This would make fixing easier and enable some splashing but not too much, which I think fits with your goals. Plus...

What's the goal here? Do you want to empower aggro decks, control decks, midrange decks, none of the above? Or do you just want more fixing? I like the swamp + painland approach myself (number 3 of the cards) due to it emphasizing black mana for your particular cube, but if you just want...

Yeah, 4 starts getting to be way too much if you want them to come into play untapped the majority of the time. Fetching these is a full quarter of your life. Now if you wanted them to be balanced, I think 4 life is fine. Aesthetically, 3 looks nice and is probably close enough, but I feel like...

Tbh I almost like the idea of making a generic Seek pile or a cascade pile. Maybe just using the unused cards from the cube would be enough? Seems like a fun idea for a custom cube. Brb, making it.

I can only guess that it's essentially a beta test. On the one hand, this card looks rad. On the other hand, we baseball now. At least we have art variants and not just pictures of baseball players, but it makes you wonder about the future.

I run it and like it as a way to make the aggro decks act a little differently. Flutterfox is never going to be a premier threat, but it can do work if you're trying to weave artifact-based aggro themes into White. It's always card 20-22, but if you're got some artifact aggro or equipment...

I am so freaking close to making my own Frankie Peanuts that costs {1}{W}{W} it's not even funny. I think it's one of the best things to come out of Un sets, but it's just a tad too expensive. Anyone else have an Un cards that are super close to making it but are held back by something small?

Do people from outside the USA also have Gilbert Gottfried as their internal parrot voice? I literally cannot imagine any other voice for a parrot having grown up with him as Iago in Aladdin, but I imagine someone else must have grown up deprived of that performance. Right?? Or is the Gilbert...

Sure, but what I'm saying is that I imagine a lot of people won't care. The problem in my eyes isn't the association with the frames, it's the association with the cards. By removing the border, you open up room for a lot more acrimonious discussion as it's no longer "these things are bad" and...

There's also the fact that even if all Un cards had black borders, a lot of them would remain absolutely miserable to play with or against. For every Cheatyface there's a passel of Carnivorous Death Parrots or worse Deal Damages. And even Cheatyface can be awful depending on your standards! I...

Sorry, I totally didn't finish my thought there--if T2 reanimation is fine with how rare it is, why not just make this card Reanimate and have done with it? I don't see ways to make it happen any earlier with this switch, and I'm assuming that Life is never intended to be played/is not a...

I'm a big fan of combat tricks! I think that everyone should get to play at instant speed, even creature-based decks, as it opens up a lot of gameplay space that's otherwise a little deterministic. Here are the other ones that I run/have run/would love to make space for; they're not quite as...

To be honest, Life // Death worries me a lot more than Exhume, given that aggro isn't nearly as, well, aggressive in your format as in others. It's just an expensive Reanimate, and that's demonstrably broken in half. Maybe Back for More would be a better fit in the same colors? How often do you...

After getting my hands on the set, I feel a need to expand my testing list. Props to you guys for convincing me some of these cards are good. Includes, in descending order of probability I'll keep them: Voldaren Epicure This card is actually kind of absurd and is what got me on the Blood...

Oh, it's a great name, I just wanted to be sure you were doing it consciously! There's nothing worse than coming up with something cool and realizing six months down the road that you accidentally cribbed it from someone else. But if it's an intentional non-reference, have at it.

Isn't the Burning Legion an expansion for World of Warcraft? I haven't really played WoW, but even still it's a little jarring to read this and think that. May I suggest Infernal Legion instead? Great art, and I like drawing Skeletons into red. You could also reflavour it as spreading flames or...

This set is great, I can skip it entirely! Honestly, I'm taking a "wait and see" approach with the black and white cards, because that Consider actually looks pretty cool to me and the gold frame doesn't bother me nearly as much as it does you, but it's definitely disappointing in terms of the...

guh of course, reading the card explains the card. That's why you gave us so many lands, makes a ton more sense. Sorry about that! Updated decklists. Third time's the charm, right?
