I will run Mammoth Growth for the flavor text alone. Also, the Rakdos saga looks sweet, I agree. Also also, I think that in some ways even just having one Foretell card in a color can still have mind games associated with it. Once the mono-Green foretells something, if you only have Mammoth...

Oh, absolutely, but a) it hadn't been mentioned this time yet and b) I don't know anyone else who actually runs as many as I do--I'm not joking when I say I run 10 of them, and I'm also not joking when I say you should at least consider running a bunch of them. In fact, let's make this...

Unfortunately, I think Trainmaster is right on Hokori. I do the exact same thing with bicycles and horizon lands, Velrun! And, I have a solution to wanting the cycling lands. May I present to you: Ash Barrens I run 10 of them, which may be overkill, but they're good, albeit mediocre...

I actually think that making this cost 1 mana on the critical turn makes it a lot scarier, and is an incredible tool for Heroic or Prowess decks. Uncaged Fury requires 3 mana on a single turn, and 3 is a lot more than 1. I expect this will lead to a disproportionate number of blowouts because...

Honestly, if Abzan didn't have better things to be doing, I think it could be a good home for Legends thanks to the following cards. It might work as a subtheme for Abzan? It's cool that WotC seems to be going in this direction in the last few years, as it would go a ways towards giving Legends...

Oh, sure! My apologies for the huge images, but the art is so beautiful in high-res. Here, we have the showcase frames for Zendikar Rising, Kaldheim, Eldraine, and Theros Round 2: Elspeth's Revenge. The ZNR frame has a couple neat things going for it, namely changing up the shape of the frame...

The art looks fantastic, thanks for sharing the hi-res photos, Vel! However, I can't help but feel that one of the names sticks out like a sore thumb and that the following must have happened. WOTC Employee #1: Okay, we've got a plane about Vikings. What do we call the plane where the gods...

Okay, so you weren't just being flip when you told me to write it to WOTC. My apologies for assuming that. I'll do that too, but not until I've actually gotten my hands on the cards and tried them. Once again, I may very well just need personal exposure to Foretell to appreciate it. However, I...

Sure, I hear that it's not helpful for you, and I understand that WOTC isn't going to suddenly errata their newest set because Zoss is a little disappointed. But the point of my post was explicitly that we are not expressing opinions on WOTC's actions with the purpose of convincing them to...

Because criticism is both good for the critic and pointless if you only talk about the good stuff. Please bear with the following somewhat rambling anecdote. I was a music major back in undergrad, and we had this thing called studio class, which is a weekly meeting of all the students of a...

That's awesome! I'm glad to be wrong here. Do you have any other errata'd cards in your cube? I'd do something similar, but I'm worried that I'd either want to have a bunch of "fixed" cards (which is another dream cube of mine), or I'd want to create an entirely new card so that people don't...

Mogis's Favor Depending on your creature suite, I'd consider the above because it can act as removal, it has recursion, and it has that feeling of sacrificing life for power (plus, you've written about how you like the flavor of Escape :D ). Great on Kitesail Freebooter. I'm always a fan of...

I don't want to speak for anyone else, but I think the 'meh' response to Foretell is based more on excitement levels than on power levels. It's undeniably powerful, and it may very well be flexible and skill-testing, but it feels really boring. Maybe it plays a lot better than it reads! I...

I absolutely agree that Foretell is the stronger mechanic, and yeah, Morph has major issues. However, I like the interactivity of Morph, and Foretell is, at least so far, just a cost-reduction ability/reverse Kicker. It does make sequencing a lot more interesting, and I'm glad that WOTC is...

I don't have that one, but I got a couple of their Strongholds to support my LGS back in the summer, and they're great (one white and one black). The white color is more of a light cream, but it's aged just fine (not picking up dust or dirt, apart from cat hair). I bring up the two colors...

Yeah, that looks incredibly mediocre. OTOH, this particular creature may just have a crappy Foretell cost because the base body is so pushed. Getting a 6/5 trampler with built-in removal protection on T3/4 is, in a phrase, 'big game.' It's probably less attractive than Lovestruck Beast in...

I totally agree with all these things--she's slow, she's fragile, and she's mana-intensive. However, I think she has a lot higher of an upside than a planeswalker. Sure, she costs mana, but she's essentially reads "Once per turn cycle, cast any [Human] from your library." She doesn't charge a...

It's absolutely not going to come across in draft that it's a card from each set. However, I'm trying to keep a fairly even distribution of cards across time--540 cards and ~110 sets with new cards means that I'm aiming for about 5 cards from each set. I'm starting with one and building from...

...very? All joking aside, looking at your list (edit: assuming that you are your own friend, which I would hope you are! If not, it's a list that's familiar to you as an example of what might happen.) the biggest problems I see are mostly in Blue. (Urza, Lord High Artificer, Snapcaster Mage...
