    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

Yeah, I thought Velrun was just saying WOTC was being overly dogmatic with their cycle reprint rules in this instance, which seems fair considering that its supposed to be a premium set aimed at whales.

I don’t get why someone would cut constrictor for mongrel either, other than nostalgia. There is a good argument for running both, if you have a lot of discard interactions, but otherwise constrictor is going to be slightly better for most green sections. Green has an annoying habit of color...

My opinions on wall of roots can change a lot depending on the context, but its a lot more dull in cube in general, when you can't pair it with a density of interesting convoke cards. Its at its best when you can use it to fuel creature based tool box decks with cards like chord of calling...

    General CBS

It looks reasonable to me. It has a real structure to it, actual 10 archetypes, has weirdness for casual players, and using core set cards should make things more accesable. The power gap could be honed a bit more narrow--some of the more charming interactions are going to be overshadowed...

Yeah pretty much. The smaller rat needs to win sometimes to keep on playing. Whether this is a reasonable way to go about it is a different matter though.

The Penny Pincher Cube 2.0--Inventors' Fair

Yeah, pretty much. The reason I don't run stage or vesuva is that they just aren't really worth it. All they end up being is esoteric bounceland filler, and people aren't really going to bond with these choices anyways. Cyclers should be fine. The OG karoos were fine, and these should be...

Oh, for some reason I always want to read those as being mana ramp bouncelands. Back to the cyclers.

That will probably be the swap that I try. I was a little worried about them biasing the drafters too much in one direction or the other, but I think it will be fine.

    Inscho's Graveyard Combo Cube

I think this is probably fine for drafters. I wouldn't mind seeing some of the other archetypes though, for my own interest. I imagine part of why this works so well is that the graveyard interactions mean you can really turn the red looters into legitimate draw spells, strong enough to...

    Inscho's Graveyard Combo Cube

Thats really helpful actually. So BGW looks pretty clever. You have the pox pieces from BW that we might expect, but than fleshed out a neat little GW variation of it using the mass land destruction cards. Seems clever to me. I'm a little surprised that it didn't carry over more into BR...

General Current opinion on duplicates and other Riptidian/Waddellisms?

Images are probably the way to go. That should be a lot more memorable, and also remove the awkwardness of relying on language. I would imagine its almost like they are getting a simplified snapshot of a pack, in a sense. Much more relatable to what is actually going to happen.

General Current opinion on duplicates and other Riptidian/Waddellisms?

The best thing I did was just use the guild section to suggest at the existance of themes, though I am sure there are other ways to set markers in the desert. Legendary creatures are particularly good at this, since they tend to draw attention, and they hint at a narrative string for each...

The Penny Pincher Cube 2.0--Inventors' Fair

Man, that might be the perfect swap. I've just had the karoos in there as placeholders, and those could be better placeholders. I was just worried they would be too marginal a pick for someone to actually take.

Also sometimes these changes are made just because people get bored, not necessarly because it was a failure. Maybe you run x3 steppe lynx for 6 months, and its really good, but your players get curious about other ways to play white aggro, and you have limited space for white 1 drops, so x3...

General Current opinion on duplicates and other Riptidian/Waddellisms?

When you're earlier in the design process, and you have all of this blank territory, it helps reduce the complexity by filling those blank spots in with duplicates of cards you already know will work reasonably. As the archetypes start to take greater form, that space becomes more competitive...

Yeah, I would be down to run it in one of the powered formats where the body dosen't start to occlude the synergy potential of the ability (which looks really sweet), but as is, I would expect it to just be beat down town with maybe a little value tacked on if I ran it in my format. And I do...

    The Mox Cube

I am really interested in the cards that you cut for being too good. What are the markers for a card in this context being too good? Is it just purely the 2 card combo aspect?
