Yeah, but I wonder how many cards you would need to draft to get a solid 15-card deck. Part of what makes Microsealed interesting is that synergy is better than raw power. Maybe draft two cards from each pack? That way, you can plan your synergies better without relying on unknown cards to come...

Still playing Microsealed a few times a year, and it's now my favorite format of all-time. The deckbuilding and gameplay decisions are just so much richer and denser than any other format. The only thing I miss about other formats is drafting. So, I was brainstorming an idea for a format...

    General Campaign Format

I ran a Rotisserie Dynasty League back in the day. It functioned similar to a professional sports league, with each new set being a "draft class", and older sets rotating out due to "retirement". Salary cap, free agents, the whole nine yards. The main issue was the reliability of the team...

I don't follow. What do the number of lands and the number of build-arounds have to do with each other?

    Article New Magic Block Structure

I'm guessing that has to do with the order they come out, so that there are draftable build-arounds from the beginning of the block.

Even DKA-INN-INN or other sets drafted with each other in a small-large-large fashion makes sense. But we have the luxury of designing specifically for limited, rather than balancing needs of constructed. So, making an entire small set of archetypal build-around cards could work where it doesn't...

If you were to design a cube within this new block format (i.e. a smaller cube to create the first pack and a larger cube to create the second and third packs), what types of things would you put in each of the packs? Would the "small set" be filled with build-around cards? Would all of the mana...

Just the sealed pool. White and green have all of the usual suspects, and blue has a significant amount of bounce (and counter, obviously). Red and black would have a hard time dealing with enchantments in any sealed pool, though.

Yeah, it was pretty unstoppable with the smaller card pools. I had used up Disenchant with my previous deck, and literally had no more answers for Enchantments. My closest answer was to Clever Impersonator his Oblivion Ring, but once he saw Clever Impersonator, he sided out Oblivion Ring. Ajani...

Didn't have time for a best-of-7, so we pared the card pool down to 72 and played best-of-5. Didn't have as many synergistic decks, and specific answers were harder to come by. But it was otherwise fine. The two 2-0 decks were: Ones 1 Innocent Blood 1 Reanimate Twos 1 Balance 1...

I like that the frequency of commons/uncommons from each set is more balanced in a two-set draft format than in a three-set format.

The context to that statement was that he was talking about which deck to choose if you want to win the tournament. Scissors is much more likely to make Top 8 in that scenario, but because of that, a Scissors that makes Top 8 is the favorite to win.

My friend Dexter has an unpowered cube which we draft with larger groups pretty regularly. Given his atypical work hours (gigging musician) and my free summer (teacher), we got together on a weekday to try for a full microsealed series. Ben Deck 1: GW Winter Elves Arbor Elf Avacyn’s Pilgrim...

Hey, if I want to post a write-up of my Microsealed session(s), would this thread be the appropriate place to post? Or is there a thread specifically for match/tourney recaps?

Ah, okay. That makes more sense. So, you could essentially sideboard it in between games; otherwise, it's retired.

Also, Ashiok is stupid good in this format. We haven't quite decided if banning is the right move, because aggro decks can be a decent answer. But, man...

We were a little worried about the abuse of tutor spells. With Tinker/Natural Order/Zenith/Pod, you can have all possibilities in all matches, without compromising your draw quality. Retiring the tutored card after each game seemed a fair trade-off.

What about after the game? Does the card go back into your collection or is it retired?

    General [Brainstorming] Vintage Cube

I'll be curious to see how WotC's take on this (Vintage Masters) turns out. Modern Masters was pretty good, but felt too archetype-driven. At the Vintage power level, I hope we get more of the spontaneous deck-building of cube, but with multiples.
