What I find cutest about that is that you get a cost reduction for reanimation. The card is still a creature in the graveyard, and Thaumaturge doesn't actually care about the target being on the battlefield (despite what the card name would have you suggest).

Creatures are on the battlefield, they're not "creatures" while they're in the graveyard, they're "creature cards." Right?

If you target like 3 guys with profane command it does give you +3 cmc though.

Right. So. doesn't work, because Thaumaturge counts 'each creature it targets', where the reanimation target in the graveyard is a 'creature card' which is not a subtype of 'creature'?

Yeah, that sounds about right.

when a card says 'creature' it means 'creature permanent on the battlefield'

doesnt mean you cant give a billion things fear and reanimate a stifle'd emrakul or what-have-you for next to no mana.
