Well, if you include cards like Purphoros/Goblin Bombardment/Ogre Battledriver/Oriflamme, it becomes suddenly more attractive .

I feel like pyromancer doesn't go with cantrips as much as he buffs value spells. If you haven't got your pyromancer, cantriping is burning your gas to find the thing you no longer have as much gas for, whereas value spells are keeping you in the game. A mix is probably the best, but welcome to card games.
