General [DFT] Aetherdrift

Looking at the full gallery, something like a third of the Aetherdrift Alchemy cards are designs that could work cleanly in Paper. Like so:

It’s very annoying that this isn’t a paper card. I’d probably run it

They did that in Duskmourn too:

and if you count things that could easily have been made paper, but as worded aren't:

Seven cards out of thirty that feel like they came from the cutting board of the main set (imo) is a pretty high ratio.

e: also where is the full gallery, I literally cannot find it - tried dailymtg (if it's there it's hiding), magic.gg (esports only), magicspoiler/mtggoldfish/mythicspoiler (none of them do alchemy?), googling it took me to a Reddit post to a YouTube link which I sure as hell am not clicking on, I want still images... I'm too old for the internet, apparently.

Okay I give up.

Is it possible to fix this website’s picture issues? Too many restrictions on what pictures can be uploaded.

IDK If that part of this website is changeable, but I feel ya. Some of my uploads have to be uploaded to Imgur and then linked here

Anyways:

This card is actually really fun and works in paper without adjustment. Nice little mind game that doesn't feel oppressive at this mana value. If I were to be comfortable running Arena-only cards, I'd be very interested in this one.

Double team sucks as a mechanic but it does play very well (when it attacks, you get a second copy in your hand and both of them lose the ability). In an era where I'm probably going to cut my aristocrats support in half, this is the perfect midrange version of the effect. It may only trigger once per turn, but I've been pretty happy with Vraan, Executioner Thane in my non-combo aristocrats decks (i.e. the ones that actually seem to work) and this ends up being similar, especially once you've got two on the table. On a 2/1 flying body, this effect is much better than a 0/1, which more than makes up for the limited ability otherwise. I think this is totally fair while still being legacy Cubeable and wish it were a real card.

I really don't like having so many Aetherdrift cards in my Cube, but man, I drafted this today as I was procrastinating from work and it was really easy to put together with all the discard outlets and cycling I've got around, and that's without doing much work to specifically support it.

I really do love these cards.

That deck looks like a blast. If the Skyray is good enough, have you tried

?

Is both a scaling payoff and enabler, with counters and artifact synergies. The trample could tie in with Berserkers too. I am strongly considering her for my cube, curious on your evaluation.

I do run her! Only drafted twice in person since adding her, but she was best friends with Inti, Seneschal of the Sun and extremely valuable for my bits and bobs update to best support Stridehangar Automaton. Lovely lovely card.
