General (SNC) Streets of New Capenna Previews

I haven't seen anybody mention this card yet? Seems like a fun one for lower-powered cubes. I was considering giving white more graveyard recursion, and SNC seems to be playing right into that :)

The first CAP card I'm really considering. It seems terrific in cubes with either blink or graveyard themes, as well as providing some rebuilding options for aggro decks after removal or a boardwipe. Might be difficult to find which card to cut for it but that's a problem for future me.

    the 180 Jeskai Cube

Apparently I missed this question, sorry for that D: So the most important goal for me was to create a 2-4 player draft environment with a lot of competition over cards during the draft. The first step towards this was limiting the cube to three colors, which fixes this issue for 4-player...

    the 180 Jeskai Cube

With Kamigawa entering the stage, I've decided to work on two of my new year's resolutions: simplifying the cube and ironing out it's main themes. NEO itsself has added 8 new cards to the 180 cube, which is more than 4% of the cube now. This puts it on par at second place with MH2, although both...

    General Fight Club

@Jason Waddell , I'd like to voice my opinion because this whole discussion has irked me for a few days now. For @Velrun , let met try to give you the perspective from a 3-party reader: You're calling the designers of (one of) the most succesful cardgames ever producer bad game designers...

The Cube Horde (a solo module for any cube)

I have done 2 full playthroughs (grid drafting + 3 matches) and some quicker tests with the grid or the Horde deck. It's obvious the module needs quite some tuning, but overall I'm positive that there's a lot of potential here. Scaling seems to be the main issue, where you're almost guaranteed...

The Cube Horde (a solo module for any cube)

the Cube Horde 60 cards / 1 player I suspect many of us haven't able to play much Cube during the pandemic. During this time I've been reading up on Horde Magic, a coop Magic mode developed for Commander, and its applications for solo cubing. I wasn't really satisfied with any current system...

    the 180 Jeskai Cube

Ooh nice, I had previously bought this for my girlfriends' Commander decks but never though about using it for cube! This year I'm aiming to 'complete' my cube by collecting all tokens, counters and dice I might need. I was considering maybe my own cube box, but this is much easier :) Thanks...

    the 180 Jeskai Cube

2021 in review: I haven't been able to cube much in the past year for obvious reasons, but have been updating it a few times. I hope to play it a lot more in 2022, although I find that managing the cube has been a pleasant hobby in these times of peril. It's always hard evaluating a year with so...

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

If the controller can have better options than create two tokens, doesn't that mean creating two tokens is the floor?

The "reducing mechanics" exercise is a nice one! I do find that the complexity level of mechanics should be an important facor here, though. The addition of a single Planeswalker increases a cube's overall complexity more than the addition of Cycling, Kicker and Flashback would do combined. On...

General Poll: How many lands in your 360?

People are just asking for context, @Velrun. We don't know the context of the question, and I for one am unsure if I can help you. You mention that you hope others will benifit from this poll, but it's so specific that it seems to miss the forest for the trees. I for one have a 180 cube that is...

A Murmuring Mystic variant that triggers on more than merely instants and sorceries. These are the cards I live for, especially since I try to minimize the variety of tokens used in my cube, and I do still use 1/1 Spirits! This might even drive out the 2/2 drake tokens Edit: sniped by @Velrun

    General CBS

I have 6 unique tokens and put them two of those each back-to-back in a clear sleave. So, technically, I have only 3 kinds of (double-sided) tokens. On top of that, matching the front and back (both are artifacts, or both are 1/1) helps decrease the cognitive load of remembering which tokens are...

    the 180 Jeskai Cube

Modern Horizons 2 and the recent discussions on discord inpired me to brew all kinds of different cubes. I've also experimented with bringing an enchantment theme to the Jeskai cube, but concluded that's a little too rich for a 180 card cube. MH2 and AFR do provide a TON of new options for the...

General Do you enjoy playing Chess?

There's still a lot of abstract games being designed today, and they generally sell okay. Sure, it's not on the level of Chess or Go, but that's because we already have Chess and Go. There's just a huge market for non-random, simple games without expansions, and something will fill that gap. The...

    General We Make The Cube

Dragon's Rage Channeler is nice with noncreate spells and graveyard themes and probably my favourite card from MH2 I don't know anybody here so I'll pass it on to the man, the myth, the legend @Jason Waddell ?
