It's not worth it. You cannot run as many lands to justify it. Consider running Exploration or even Fastbond instead.

Erik's "The cool side of Magic" cube

No, don't worry! You were very kind and helpful. I'm just agreeing with you. I agree think that trying to keep historic value is always going to come with a cost. The ideal cube from a game-design perspective is not going to include cards because to include, say, Swords to Plowshares because...

They can't interact if they don't have any lands: Opposition (No, I'm not running that)

Erik's "The cool side of Magic" cube

Thanks a lot for the thoughts inscho. I think you are right on all counts. Int he end my cube is very much a typical cube with some care put into archetypes. And I can see the historical angle is pretty much a novelty, though I don't play Magic enough for it to matter. Like you say, the easiest...

Erik's "The cool side of Magic" cube

For me showcasing the history of the game is important, but I've already sacrificed quite a bit of it so feel free to make any suggestions you have in mind.

Erik's "The cool side of Magic" cube

I've been doing some testing and small tweaks. I ran the numbers on Cubecobra and it seems white is the most drafted color, followed by red and black. This makes me think Mardu Aggro and variants is the most drafted archetype, followed by other WBR-centric combinations. UG seems to be drafted...

Lightning Phoenix vs Flamewake Phoenix Which one do you like more? I like the discard synergy of both but I don't actually run a lot of 4-strenght creatures. I also thought the Theros Phoenix was too cheap to escape and quick to kill so it's between those two.

I've found it very difficult to give a number because different themes have very different needs and certain cards can fit a very high number of decks, like Faithless Looting. I would focus first on the archetypes, because they require the least cards. You can include an archetype with just 2-3...

Erik's "The cool side of Magic" cube

Would you mind sharing a deck or idea with Magus of the Wheel? I may simply be building the wrong way around it. Would love any ideas or examples.

Erik's "The cool side of Magic" cube

Yeah, I should try Hollow One again. It's a cool, powerful card that fits in many archetypes. The card I'm less happy with right now is: Magus of the Wheel I wonder if there's another red three-drop that could replace it. I should also replace the greedy Tinker Mage with Bazaar Mage or...

Erik's "The cool side of Magic" cube

I haven't said anything in a long time, but I've kept working on my cube. In fact, I think it's practically "complete". There are a couple flaws, like how Gruul Madness aggro via Wild Mongrel isn't really there but I think it's 95% the way I want it to be. Feel free to make any suggestions...

I'm looking for a 5 mana black wrath or just suggestions of black sweepers in general that are not Damnation.

Rite of Belzenlok is indeed pretty weak. The reason is that it doesn't do anything for three turns. If you play it on turn four, you won't be attacking until turn seven. A 4/4 flyer would have done more damage in the meantime and you can get one of those with an upside, like Nightmare...

General How to execute a minimalist Artifact theme

I'm sorry, but I like making others miserable. That's why I've created the Misery cube, where everyone is given 3 Smokestacks and 2 Stasis at the start. Divine Intervention is a beautiful piece of design and a P1P1 if you don't get any Mox Diamonds (Of which I run a couple).

It plays better, it's more useful and it's much better in a cube environment. I just wish it was as clean in wording.

The problem with Oracle is the massive wall of text. Laboratory Maniac is so much cleaner I wish it was the better card.

I feel I'm close to completing my cube but I'm one white and one black card short. Any random suggestions? I'm all ears.

In my experience, Jadelight Ranger is much better than Merlfolk Branchwalker but neither has been great for me. Seeing two cards makes Ranger a pretty solid card, but Branchwalker is often a 3/2 that does nothing.

    General Arena Cube is back!

I remember playing the April cube and it was awful. Very color-clunky with bomb after bomb dropping into the battlefield. But I'll give another chance since it's free.

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

I think the card is a bit questionable. After all, it has two and a half restrictions (Only certain creatures, you need an equipment and it must be equipped to it) to save 1 mana on a good but not great effect. I just wonder if it wouldn't be just better to run a more traditional card like...
