Man, I sometimes forget you only do power maxing lol In lower power formats the threats aren't really capable of exerting the same type of pressure they are in your format. When your creatures start to be a guaranteed double spell, removal has to be ultra-efficiently costed to allow the...

Just to help clarify, my format is lower powered, with worse removal. Still bad

Its a 7 mana brick, so its a pretty terrible finisher for people on a ramp plan.

That card played really badly for us, outside of retail limited.

If you're running bouncelands, this is pretty big game This + voyaging satyr + channeler looks like a strong low power ramp package. Magus of the candelabra can be good, but this is more generally useful. So far like this and unearth 2.0 the best from the set, and the crucible on legs.

I think people would play it, at least at first. The main questions are what would result, would it be good enough, and would it be fun. The main challenge with simic is the random person that drafts a durdle ramp deck without removal (hey look! card draw and fatties!!!), and I get really...

Lucre Cube Redux - We live in a bounceland world now.

Hey Laz, I've been reluctant to approach because I worry that my own postings might too strongly dominate the conversation, and stifle your creativity. A lot of the ground that Lucre wanted to cover ended up getting covered by both versions of the penny cube, and this second version ended up...

The Penny Pincher Cube 2.0--Inventors' Fair

Few tweaks from playtesting First off, the aggro decks feel fine. I was worried they were going to just run people over, but they are inconsistent enough where that doesn't seem to really happen. Ideally, there would probably be at least a 5th egg effect for them, however. 4 is a bit tight...

The Penny Pincher Cube 2.0--Inventors' Fair

Card spotlight from last night Sandwurm Convergence This is like ramping up to a planeswalker ultimate that can be beaten. Because its an enchantment, its more difficult to interact with, and Timmy gets to actually have fun. Because its a powerful enchantment it rewards people for...

I'm honestly not even sure how playable the cat is. Both ends feel to me like they play into medium to low floors, but allow for high ceilings, where as something like gearhulk is just consistently high powered.

    Card/Deck Low Power Card Spotlight

I never actually ran Eruption, and its a cool card, but I have some concerns about how it would play. In its original format the mana accelerates were also creatures, so it very nicely worked as a ramp target that could turn late game mana dorks into something impactful. In cube, I would...

The Penny Pincher Cube 2.0--Inventors' Fair

Wanted to say thank you to B8R and Cstick for the recent drafts. I particularly enjoy the cleverness of describing the draft experience with pseudo movie/book titles. www.cubetutor.com/cubedeck/747647[/url]"] Ones 1 Bloodsoaked Champion 1 Executioner's Capsule 1 Faithless Looting 1 Gnarled...

    Card/Deck Low Power Card Spotlight

You should use your cube blog to stream of conscious your ideas. We can act as a whiteboard for you to bounce off of, and hone them. Even writing to yourself can help you hone and articulate them better. Ideas are seldom perfect in their first form, and usually requite a gestation stage to...

    Card/Deck Low Power Card Spotlight

I've played a lot of kessig cagebreakers, and really like the card. Its been a consistent, excellent, presence in every one of my low power formats. Its a card very deserving of a low power spotlight, as its the perfect pushed card for those types of formats, and exactly what I want from a rare...

Its also worth noting that he has less interaction in that list--in particular the hyper-efficient blue bounce effects, so you're less likely to be punished for running out a battledriver. Sometimes in those removal light formats, just having a body--however awkward--can be really good for that...

If we're going to switch to real world play results, that was perfectly illustrated as well by Laz's anecdote, which mirrors my own. The creature itself comes at a below average rate, and it just kind of sits there waiting to make your future creature draws better. I'm being a little generous...

Because of the way you formated your response, I want to make sure we understand that I am purely commentating on the mana inefficiency of certain creatures in the context of formats that punish players for it, due to their condensed nature. I feel like we're already deflecting to things far...

This is a really good post, and a great example of what I mean by this class of creature cards being deceptive. The main problem with them is how mana inefficient they trade with removal, and how this sets up a player to be punished for doing something they shouldn't be being punished for...
