Serum visions reprint...finally Its already over dude. They are running the splicer tribal deck. Its reminding me of the penny cube, but less balanced. It could still be fun, it just depends on how obnoxious this UW deck is. With visions, compulsive research, flickerwisp, master splicer...

    Sets Modern Masters 2017 (MMA3?)

I'm not sure the people designing this understand what they are making. Blink already is a disgusting value mechanic with good targets--especially when you can use it reactively in response to removal. Maybe this is just years of cube experience talking, but this seems like such an...

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

Yes, and the floor for a card at that mana point is really bad--like rvb said, a fine value play when everything is going well.

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

I think thats a pretty fair assessment; jori's biggest problem is that she only goes in one deck, and the counter-burn deck is fairly meh. My lament: Still have jori in the min/max though: not sure what to replace her with.

General What is Temur doing for you?

In most cubes, R/U/G is just a sort of blue jund deck. Its just a combination of R/G's stompy components and removal, married to U's card draw/selection. The problem with the TOL deck is that it isn't actually a deck--its a couple cards that value combo in a minor way.

    GiftsForgiven's Riptidian Synergy Cube

Simic should be fine without mana dorks: even with them present in a cube, you have to assume that they won't get them every draft, or game, or that they won't get t1 killed. Flyers/tramplers with disruption is a perfectly valid strategy. Typically its nice to give them a few "hard" targets to...

    GiftsForgiven's Riptidian Synergy Cube

I like what you are doing, but here I am going to wade on in with another stream of conscious criticism piece, get ready for the ramblings! There is generally some significant issues with power variance, which makes sense since you are coming from your normal high powered world. I suggest...

    General Adapting Morph to cubes

At 3 I think maybe draw a card? Scry 2 at 2cc? I kind of feel like elvish visionary is the guide here, but not sure.

    General Adapting Morph to cubes

I just want to say that the actual morph model requires a low power enviro, because of how critical the 3cc slot is. Those have to be impactful spells to justify their awkwardness, not meaningless bodies.

    Jovial's "Borrowed" Cube(s)

Went UB flayers (tempo?). Didn't really get enough playables, and ended up running 4-5 clunky off-plan cards--a number of them actively bad. www.cubetutor.com/cubedeck/689784[/url]"] Ones 1 Disrupt 1 Spindrift Drake Twos 1 Cloud of Faeries 1 Favorable Winds 1 Imp's Mischief 1 Snap Threes 1...

    Jovial's "Borrowed" Cube(s)

Wow, what a mess. This looks like a super rough draft--like the list was just populated and than left on cube tutor. I don't mind chipping away at it, but just looking it over is exhausting. I would probably toss it, say to myself that I want to proctor a 360 card twisted color pie cube...

The Dandy Cube (Chris Taylor's Cube)

That looks great, really like the sylvan library redux--sylvan is a great card, but really difficult to understand. A couple random thoughts: 1. A wildcard to my analysis is all of the 1-2 mana custom aggressive creatures running around in blue. In theory (especially the 1 mana monstrosity...

The Dandy Cube (Chris Taylor's Cube)

The traditional way that you would run UG at about your power level would be to use mana dorks (which you already have) to makeup the horizontal foundation of your board state. Than you are using them to ramp up into your payoff cards, and green is supposed to be making them relevant in a late...

The Dandy Cube (Chris Taylor's Cube)

Thats a big admission on your part, and really encouraging. Step 1 would be to flesh out what you want those combinations to be doing, rather than debating individual card choices. The first three are fairly shallow guilds--which is where much of the design challenge comes from--while selesnya...

The Dandy Cube (Chris Taylor's Cube)

The way you have your green section setup right now its going to be defined by birthing pod, survival of the fittest, evo leap, and the corresponding ETB creatures. There is a lot of de facto redundancy there. There is also huge redundancy in ramp, so you end up with a 66 card section that can...

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

The big appeal of the instant speed proc effects is that they counter removal--the same goes for blink effects. Any other effects--prowess, double strike, ETBs--is more incidental. There real value is acting as a sort of white spell pierce or daze for pressure decks--cheap disruption to punish...

    Sets AEther Revolt Spoilers

No offense taken. :) If you want magic to play more like a competitive e-sport, its going to be run closer to pauper (sad to say). Competitive play has to take into account the high levels of coordination and skill that comes with competition, toning down raw card power, and reducing certain...

General Format Appeal Crossover: Why do you play magic?

Is this true though? The NWO era seems much more about making the game pressure focused. When we draw the shield analogy, is there room for calibrating how we draw the equivalence to MTG--what is the "shield"? If we are thinking of a "shield" as a sort of "security blanket" mechanic, it might...
