    FlowerSunRain's Cube

I completely forgot evasive action existed. Good thing I checked the draft deck thread. That's the final 2 mana counterspell I wanted.

    FlowerSunRain's Cube

I counted. I only have 5 spirits in white (and that counts swapping the unicorn for the spirit version) and a smattering in the other colors. Even if I assign cards like Spectral Procession and soltari trooper a "spirit" type, I don't think there are enough to support it.

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

Played with it today in a black/blue deck with a reasonable amount of enchants include Diabolic Servitude and Riptide Chimera. His huge size was very welcome, but the actual trigger was lackluster. I killed one dude with it once. He comes down kind of late for it to be very relevant. With corpse...

    FlowerSunRain's Cube

You've got your grixis color things that play card draw, card filtering, removal, sweepers, counters, stall creatures and fat finishers. You've got green based ramp things that just go over the top of whatever the other deck is doing. You've got value engine decks that grind down the...

I really don't like lore seeker because passing it sucks. In an 8 man, if you pass it and the next person takes it, out of the bonus pack you get pick #8, while if you had taken it you get pick #1 and #9. In fact, if you pass it, you guarantee everyone else at the table gets significantly more...

    FlowerSunRain's Cube

Dead on Dom, not to mention the sweet synergy with Ordeals (like you mentioned), Curse of Predation, Solidarity of Heroes, etc.

Notes to Self: Fit in Impending Disaster and maybe Arena Athlete. Consider the sweet phantom tech discussed in the other thread. Consider Thasa again. Reverent Hunter, Ajani's Pridemate, Young Pyromancer as double picks?

In case anyone was staying up at night waiting to see my update, it happened and smallpox made it in over choking sands

But seriously, if I set up a game of 1830 and gave myself an extra $50 and tried to justify with the excuse, "Its balanced because I'm the only one who gets the extra money and I might waste it anyway" I'd be laughed off the table.

Whenever I hear these snippets of Magic culture, I often try to envision them applying to other games and it always seems so ridiculous that I'm happy play with "people who play games" rather then "people who play Magic". I actually went out to play Friday Night Magic last night and the people...

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

So is Diabolic Servitude. And that card has the powerful upside of not making me feel like I have completely failed as a designer.

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

When Ice Age was released, Jokulhaups was a card that captured my imagination. It was really interesting to try to figure out how to use the thing and required gutsy deckbuilding. These days its pretty simple to make it work and annoying that they made the same card, but better and turned it...

That's pretty nasty incentive card for the +1/+1 counter theme. Not sure about the colors, but I'm digging it.

    Diakonov's Cube (450)

I second the pain land suggestion. Cards whose downside involves tightening the game (i.e. less life) is generally better then those whose downside prevents you from playing the game (come into play tapped). Double Gray Merchant seems like an absolute beating, but it certainly pushes black...

General Splashability and Green's Role as a Secondary Color

Green Devotion isn't too bad. Reverent Hunter is a solid beater, but admittedly he can be awful. If you curve Young Wolf into Strangleroot Geist into Hunter, things looking awesome. If you curve Dryad Militant into Kalonian Tusker into Hunter you are basically all and loose to a wrath. I...

In a 1 v 1 setting, if both players are running 17/40 land, then: 2 = 33% 1 = 49% 0 = 18% The ramp compares unfavorable to any of the {G}{G} for 3 effects (overgrowth Fyndhorn Elder). Obviously the much better body and lifegain are huge boons and the howling mine does stuff that is probably...

    FlowerSunRain's Cube

Proliferate has been fun. I only have the two cards, so its a sweet treat when it hits. I wouldn't go all in on it as a theme or anything, but with the ridiculous amount of +1/+1 counter giving cards I run, it works out naturally. I think choking sands the best choice. With the separate...

    FlowerSunRain's Cube

Fabled Hero, Hero of Iroas and Favored Hoplite have been super rock solid and high impact as one might expect. They are really aggressive and help put away games in a hurry. Favored Hoplite in particular seems crappy, but then you trigger him twice and he's a 1 mana 3/4 popping ordeals...
