General Great Cards to go deep on

On a note more related to the OP, a card i'm super excited about and have recently added to my cube is pyromancer's goggles!

General Great Cards to go deep on

Part of the issue with 'big spells' (at least in my cube) is that a lot of the bombiest spells have 'x' costs. (rakdos' return, devil's play, etc.) I feel like you'd need to convert those to just big fatties like call the skybreaker.

Huh. I... kinda forgot that Victimize existed... somehow. Do you think it's worth it for more powerful cubes?

It's less that Season's Past isn't slow, and more that it's effect is more acceptable at a slower pace when compared to MTG's card library. It all depends on cube environments. If your cube doesn't have any real endgame reanimation targets and you're goal is jut to reanimate a couple of 4-5...

It depends on the power level of your cube, but in general I think it's because Ever After gives you redundant effects for extra mana that you don't want to pay. Example: I'd much rather pay 3 mana for necromancy (and that's one of the fairer reanimation spells!) and get a griselbrand or Elesh...

Drafted Adam's cube. P1P1 was collapsing plane, because it's a custom card and I wanted to see how deep I could go with it. Deck came out pretty neat, I think.www.cubetutor.com/cubedeck/574471[/url]"] Ones 1 Brainstorm 1 Greater Gargadon 1 Lightning Bolt Twos 1 Into the Roil 1 Izzet Charm 1...

    Card/Deck Low Power Card Spotlight

Yeah, I can't really argue that Impulse is worse than the Ponders/Brainstorms/Preordains of the world.

    Card/Deck Low Power Card Spotlight

I couldn't answer that, unfortunately. I don't have it in my cube (I chose Damnation and Languish, although I forget -exactly- why...) but I wouldn't exactly call my cube low powered by any stretch of the imagination.

Hey, Phyrexian Obliterator survives it. That's all I need. :p

    Card/Deck Low Power Card Spotlight

I don't know that I would put impulse at Tier 3. It's card selection is pretty incredible, and at instant speed, too. It's a card I'm happy to pick even in Powered cubes... although that may reflect more on the power of cantrips in general than Impulse specifically.

I'm a huge fan of Living Death. It's a decent base card that can backfire hilariously and (and this is the extremely important bit) ramps heavily in power level depending on the amount of work you put it. It has great synergies with sacrifice decks and cards like greater gargadon on top of it...

    1. Unique, powerful effect. A bit slow, but the deck that wants it is happy to Damnation or something and then take a turn off to lock the game out. 2. Slow and not worth. I'd rather reanimate a Griselbrand for 3 mana than a Gris and an Elesh Norn for 6. Most of the time. 3. Just put it in...

I run her as well. She's very, very strong and doesn't need to particularly synergize with any mechanic in order to be good. Even if she just blanks removal for a few turns, it's worth it... to say nothing of putting the stop to Reanimation or Fattycheat shenanigans...

    GiftsForgiven's Personal Cube

Hi there! Riptide cubes tend to be extremely fine-tuned and carefully crafted pieces of intellectual machinery. They typically have a medium power level, and feature bombastic plays sparingly. This is not a typical Riptide cube. This cube has one MO: Go Big! I mean that in the 'power...
