fights up to one target creature.
It's worded that way so that you gain life even if your opponent doesn't have any creatures. In the pre-MTGO age, it would have been worded "... and you may have it fight target creature", but that wording has fallen out of favor for various reasons.
I disagree. White can remove Colossus, blue can bounce or steal it, red can hit it with two small burns or a sweeper. Black can't even chump block it. You'd have more of a point if Colossus was balanced around having evasion.
I ran Drogskol a long time ago. At the end of the day, it's a fatty with no protection that usually needs to get into combat to do anything, so it's fairly safe in low-power. It stabilizes really well if it does make it to combat.
That is the feel I was hoping for on Wave of Silence. This version of the design was suggested by one of my players and I liked it enough to put it in as-is.
I don't really have problems with 3-color cards. If they show up late in the draft, they can randomly reward a player for being in the...
My recent updates/additions:
Scout went through a few iterations, and I think this version should be fair but still useful. Paying the CMC of the creature should make it a pretty safe design.
Wave is fairly new. I think the loot mode might be too much added complexity, but I'm probably going...
Yawgmoth. But between those two, Bontu is the better aristocrats payoff. At the top end in aristocrats, I want something that will let me cash in all my spare dorks for value and/or triggers.
I'm running a split of Horizon lands and personlands. In my next update I'll probably custom up a B/R Horizon land and a better U/R personland. I think they're all better than the fastlands.
I think it's the difficulty of remembering which decks can use the card. If there was a card costing {G/U}{B} you would have a hard time remembering that U/B and G/B decks can use it but not G/U. Whereas with a card like Tasigur it's easy because (1) the frame is black and (2) the normal and...
I agree that Kykar's statline is subpar (I'd even rather have a 1/4), but it's still the first M20 card I'm happy about. It supports both a grindy token strategy and powering out a big bomb or storm turn. I'm looking forward to trying it out.
Brago blinking multiple permanents, and noncreature permanents, has been very relevant for my environment. Venser, the Sojourner might finally get the boot though, especially since both my azorius and white sections are heavy on 5 drops.
Free-for-All
Destroy it to stop the creatures coming back or, flicker it to also wipe the board again. I love this card.
Parallax Tide
Same vein as Wave, also a fine card by itself.
Oath of Nissa
And all the other Gatewatch Oaths.
I never played with Brass Cave, but it seems better than a fetchland. It gets all your colors even if you don't pick up the right dual/shock, and you can pick it before you commit to any colors. I see myself taking Prismatic Vista P1P1 a lot in the future.
Storm is different in my cube, but Ral, Storm Conduit has been a great enabler in early testing. Chandra, Fire of Kaladesh is less impactful but it's a decent boost.
