    General Modern Masters 2015 - Director's Cut

The old 1 rare, 3 uncommons, 11 commons. Could simulate the foil by taking the leftovers, shuffling and replacing a common with a random card from that pile on a percentage of boosters to get results closer to the real set, but not sure the benefit is worth the hassle. Creakwood Liege is...

    General Modern Masters 2015 - Director's Cut

You're right, it's not only a very strong card in the spirits deck, but also terrible when other decks try to use it against WB Spirits. I hadn't thought of that. Any suggestions? Needs to be in the black 2, 3 or 4 mana slots, either Spirit or Arcane and common. Maybe one of these? Baleful...

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

For graveyard decks, I don't think it's BCS myopia to run Nostalgic Dreams, but rather a consistency boost. When you try to support reanimator, it becomes clear how specific cards need to be at the right place at the right time for it to work. For other decks, I agree this will be dead in some...

    General Modern Masters 2015 - Director's Cut

Thanks all for the comments! http://www.mtggoldfish.com/deck/406611#online This would cost 45.5 tix, where 9.17 is Avenger of Zendikar, which is very replaceable.

Nostalgic Dreams is a completely different card than Regrowth. I can see it being 14-15th pick in most groups, but for slow cubes it's one of those cards that plays way better than it reads. When you turn 2-3 lands into cherry-picked gas, it's a game winner, and cheap enough that the returned...

    General Modern Masters 2015 - Director's Cut

The story goes like this: a friend (always a friend) has a bunch of MM2 cards lying around from two boxes which we opened and drafted, and wanted to buy another because he likes the draft. I asked "if you like playing this set so much, why don't you put together a set cube?" However, spending...

Coke No Ice's A Gravecube for Lunatics

Tried a Mill deck, had to turn to control eventually (with mill as wincon maybe), but it turned out to be a trainwreck, too many expensive cards. I missed some early defense so this can have a game against aggro. www.cubetutor.com/cubedeck/521546[/url]"] Ones 1 Hedron Crab 1 Thought Scour 1...

General Making control decks more interesting

I think Standard Psychatog was neat, it's control in its purest form.

General Modern Cube - Modular Packages - List

The idea is great and I'm looking forward to see how it plays out. My main concern is that letting players do the package drafting might sound fun to you, but most groups will not be invested enough to look through the list/piles and make an informed choice.

Sigil of the Empty Throne has been the strongest payoff for the enchantments deck here, but requires 6+ other enchantments to be playable and 9+ to be sweet.

There is one deck where Last Rites is really good: reanimator. Dump your fatty in the graveyard, snatch the removal/counterspell. Stupor is definitely better on average, but Last Rites affects deeply any game it's cast.

Sets [DTK] Dragons of Tarkir Spoilers Thread

I've heard this for a while, but didn't find any actual list. I think these are clearly kicker variants, though: Buyback (return to hand if kicked, kicker is the buyback cost) Replicate (multikicker - copy the spell for each time it's kicked, kicker is the spell's cost) Evoke - when it has a...

Sets [DTK] Dragons of Tarkir Spoilers Thread

The comparison isn't really fair, because with megamorph there are the options of casting it for the base cost as a smaller creature, or cast for 3 + pay the morph cost for a bigger one plus maybe a triggered ability. It made more interesting cards than morph itself, IMO. Megaflying's only...

Delusional Ravings is fake: - Uses the Odyssey reminder text rather than the new one in Fiery Temper - 29/297 should put in well in white, not blue. - Font is weird

    Card/Deck Counterspells

I'm a big fan of counterspells. I think they add a layer of mind games and technical play with an elegant design. They are also such an important part of MtG that a cube would feel weird without any. The ones I run: Counterspell Mana Leak Negate Remand Remove Soul Dissolve Forbid Exclude...

    Card/Deck Low Power Card Spotlight

It depends on the power level of your removal. It was crazy good in origins draft, because only Unholy Hunger dealt with it. Powerful stabilizer, interesting finisher because sometimes you don't want to risk it against a double block or combat trick.
