General [WAR] War of the Spark

Red 2's are super stacked at this point. I'm thinking back to how slim the pickins were when I first started cubing... The cut won't be easy, but this is a must for me

General [WAR] War of the Spark

Someone interpreting a hyrbid card to be a signal of a supported guild, especially a card like the above Kiora that appears to outline some sort of archetype, isn't failed logic. The simple fact that the mana symbols being included together reflects a positive relationship between the colors...

General [WAR] War of the Spark

The hybrid mana signals Simic to me even if it's functionally no different from being 2G or 2U. It implys a pairing and theme that should exist...like seeing a Tattermunge Maniac would lead you to assume gruul aggro is a supported archetype.

    General Cultic Cube video series

Nice series! I appreciate the thoughtful brevity. Is there a link to your list? I'm curious to hear about: Ancient Stone Idol Can you rank this among some common fatties in terms of oppressiveness? I sorely want to replace Artisan of Kozilek with a large artifact creature, but I feel it's...

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

I think it's mainly just the fact that Tradewind has a lot of modes, and it's not always obvious which way to use it: Attack opponent's manabase Tie up opponent's mana/tempo by bouncing opponent's permanents Save your permanent from combat/removal Bounce and replay your own permanent for profit...

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

I should spend some time thinking about why Tradewind's brand of repetitiveness is more palatable to me than say Oketra's Monument and Kor Skyfisher...which I loathe.

    Inscho's Graveyard Combo Cube

Thanks for the kind words! and welcome to the forum. Integrating those explosive/game-warping cards within a "fair" framework has been a long process of trial and error. I'm still not convinced I've got it fully figured out, but I'm definitely closer than I've been before. During the process...

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

Although it was sufficiently neutered when damage could no longer be stacked, Tradewind still requires a certain density of removal and at instant speed to keep in check. It's hands down my favorite card. I had to cut it from my cube years ago for being underpowered, but I've always had plenty...

    Inscho's Graveyard Combo Cube

Thanks! Thanks! Happy Birthday to you! I have to say that the handful of changes I made that were inspired by your cube have opened up some troublesome color pairings, and have really contributed to the cube's recent success. Doesn't always feel that way :D thanks!!

    Inscho's Graveyard Combo Cube

Got a full pod for a pseudo Birthday Cube. Good way to celebrate my 35th. Due to the special occasion, I required everyone to bring a random prize for support, heavily emphasizing the random. The prize pot included: 1 piece of Lapis Lazuli from Afghanistan 1 custom stamped metal Benjamin...

    Card/Deck Low Power Card Spotlight

I've always been super intrigued by Necroplasm. I ended up sticking to Stinkweed Imp for the deeper dredge and to somewhat thwart creature-cheat strategies, but I should really test it out. I've never actually played with it before, but it'd be nice to have another answer to tokens that isn't...

    Card/Deck Low Power Card Spotlight

I'm a fan of genesis chamber, but I support a variety of noncreature strategies...I'd like it less in a combat-dominant format

    Inscho's Graveyard Combo Cube

Back to tinkering with this list. A common theme in the edits are promoting combo strategies equally in all colors, and cutting down on the number of auto-draft cards...Lingering Souls, Vampiric Tutor, etc I realized that Simic was sorely lacking in depth. 3 of the 4 archetypes I listed are...

    The Mox Cube

Ok, you've officially raised my interest in Intruder Alarm. I first came to cube looking for a place to play Tradewind Rider...so anything that brings it back into relevance is worth considering :D I'm running a lot of IA-friendly pieces already, but if you had to strip it down to a somewhat...

    General "Looking for a card"-Thread

Agreed on all points except it wheels a bit in my format....but that may be more due to the lack of clear aggro creatures in green. It is p1p1 quality afaic. I like that it gives Berserkers a combo component, but can easily see how people view it as a "feelbad" card, and omit it for that reason.

    Card/Deck Low Power Card Spotlight

Intuition Squee, Goblin Nabob Gigapede Wonder 'Pede Go I love Gigapede. You'd probably need to run very few token makers for it to be remotely relevant.
