    General "Looking for a card"-Thread

Card that really opens red up to a new deck angle, and helps with artifact shenanigans too: feldon of the third path

General 1-Drop Aggro vs. 2-Drop Aggro

the problem is the terms carry historical baggage, as admitted in the OP. I prefer to use even more generic terms like fast-game and long-game. Not all "slow" decks are traditional "control decks", for instance. It should only be one generic facet of your archetype design. You use a loaded...

General 1-Drop Aggro vs. 2-Drop Aggro

I'm also interested to know that. The way I see it, if you are designing from an archetype-driven point of view, this thread is almost a moot point. If you've properly considered the needs of all of the archetypes you are trying to represent then all is well, no matter if it's one 1-drop or...

yes exactly this. Making blue more about draw-discard and pushing the CMC up a little really opens up the color wheel for draw effects. In that vein, a 1cmc U card I really do like is careful study

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

It sounds like a non-reply, but if your players would enjoy playing it, play it. Its one of those cards that is very special and unique to the game, but because of that its also polarizing. Some playgroups love building weird decks with wacky piles and niche interactions, some just don't the...

Actually played a prerelease! The first I've been to since.... Dominaria? Or was it Kaladesh???? Been a while. Had a bunch of fun with a five color pile that is lost to posterity. First off, Shadowspear is legit. Very strong equipment but still beatable. I think threads that fine power level...

I prefer Emancipation Angel for this sort of effect, thanks to the synergism. But it is an excellent common. I think triplicate spirits is tight competition if you consider it a "creature"

That is excellent mana, and a quite high power level per cubetutor too. I totally agree in your context, where Vortex competes with Sneak Attack and other beefy power cards. Really depends on how games play out. What's your average toughness? How action-dense are turns? Vortex can also drop for...

    General Fight Club

Borborygmos Enraged is plenty good enough. Hardcast plenty often, because the lands deck often builds up as a long-game deck, not going for a fast kill. That grindy-ness gives time to get him out. I would 100% recommend running him. It is also true that he makes a juicy reanimation target, and...

the power level of goyf kinda hides that "feature", but yes it works off of a delirium angle.

I love Molten Vortex. Cheap Enchantment to dish out lands as shocks. RRR is a pretty tough upfront investment for assault.

Great card! It is a "may" ability, so you can let big guys back into the yard for reanimation, but have the Shepherd bring back small stuff as a 1/1 nightmare.

Seems even better then lab man? You can just plop him down late game and win on the spot, even without really trying. Also not as lame outside the win condition. Maybe better isn't quite the word. "less archetypically specific". Which can be a good or bad thing, depending. You can jam this...

Removal is almost always the primary mode of fireballs. Usually you only point to the player when it's a KO or directly leading to a KO. This you could add to an attacking board, maybe benefit from some combat buff, etcetera. Really nice red X spell.
