    Sets [ORI] Magic Origins Spoilers

The 1/1 renown guys are pretty good (goblin glory chaser and honored hierarch), but my meta is a little slower so YMMV.

    Card/Deck B/G Lifegain (Lets Durdle)

I tried Ainok Survivalist and it was bad. It synergizes with nothing, is slow and underpowered in morph mode and you do not want to cast it in piker mode either. With broken equips and other game warping enchants/artifacts, cards like this are passable. Without them though, they just...

Blue because it's the broken color. Or White because it's sort of boring. Hope I didn't offend any white or blue mages. :)

What Grillo said. That drawback is devastating against burn, and cube has way too much of that. If anyone makes a 4 color only cube without red though...

    General Fight Club

I ran counterbalance back in the day. It's good with top of library manipulation (top, etc.). Blind, it's fully dependent on the speed of the format. Very low curves, it can hit randomly enough to where it feels worth it. Also nice sometimes to see the top card of your library to plan ahead...

A bit too narrow for me. Are you running satyr wayfinder? That's good. Accomplishes the same thing and is good in non dedicated graveyard decks.

It's a difficult balancing act. When I hear control needs all the help it can get, it reminds me how different my meta is. You'd think with control resorting to Kokusho as a finisher, control would totally suck in my cube but it doesn't. And maybe because guys don't actively draft the all in...

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

I think it's more an adjunct instead of a replacement for those early effects. As someone alluded to above, if Fetter's is the first card you play to disrupt the aggro player, it will most likely be too slow. But a condemn a turn or two earlier and then this on T4 is very solid, and depending...

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

That's fair. It is a bad answer against several cards. But I see it as an answer for control strategies against more aggressive ones. It's not a great control on control card. So being bad against Elesh Norn seems totally fine to me. Of the other two, I actually think it's pretty good...

Maybe there's a difference in how guys are trying to use Raptor which is leading to the large variance here? I don't know if Raptor goes in hard aggro at all. For two reasons: 1. Blue sucks at hard aggro outside gimmicky stuff like quad delver or something 2. Raptor is better if you have...

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

Unless the game fundamentally changes to where control no longer has use of stabilizing cards on T4 (which I do not see how that could ever be true), this card is always going to be playable. Maybe it's not a windmill slam anymore but it does exactly what you want a control card doing. It shuts...

I agree. Hero really isn't all that great. Hellrider is better in the aggressive decks and Shaman of the Great Hunt is really good in the +1/+1 counter theme.

Agree with everything in that post. Cloudfin has been extremely good in +1/+1 counters, winning games singlehandedly even. It gets out of control fast and that extra point of toughness it always has is relevant.

Another vote for Tidehollow Sculler and Stoke the Flames. Both are sweet cards. Underworld Coinsmith I've never tried, but repeatable life drain is pretty good in slower meta environments, and that card looks down right nasty in multi-player (though you are likely to just become a target). If...

    Card/Deck B/G Lifegain (Lets Durdle)

It's the GG on brownscale that kills it for me, even if you really only use it as a dredge engine 90% of the time. It's already a rubbish 2/3 for 3, AND you have to make it a CC card? It looks stupid in a cube list next to Courser of Kruphix.

I still run Rishadan Port too. It has a ton of uses and also answers manlands.

Honestly. This card is amazing. I wish they'd actually print it. But I think we've demonstrated with a few examples that this card is broken and can't be printed.

From playing Citadel Siege, I can say that two +1/+1 counters is so so much more impactful than just getting one. It's like time walking a creature evolve style. The goblin is probably broken. It's a 5/5 on T3 with minimal effort and with synergistic cards, you aren't even losing anything...

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

I'm running 0 wastelands and 1 tec edge. I have some LD in the main cube and other things that can deal with lands like song of the dryads. It hasn't really been an issue where I've felt I needed more answers to lands. That might change if we get enemy manlands though.

Card/Deck Creatures With Neutral Card Economy

I interpret "card neutral" as not generating advantage. But I don't want to get hung up on syntax. Only thing I would caution though is that these cards are often classic good stuff enablers since they are good in everything. This is one of those cases I think where you may go in wanting to...
