Sets [EMA] Eternal Masters Spoilers Thread

Still generally good to lay it all out ahead of time. I've paid for friends prereleases with the intent to get it paid back, but put no value on their prize support, if they got any.

    To loot or not ?

The power level of CM is far, far above the rest of your deck. Why would you not dig down for it, give you a win con rather than just kill the angel and have to work up from there? It is that simple. You can actively increase your hands power level. Go for it. I flushed this all out on my own...

Sets [EMA] Eternal Masters Spoilers Thread

Was the draft for your buddy a gift, or not? Hopefully laid that out up front. Love that enchantress is actually a real, powerful, archetype! I do like enchantments, play a Naya enchant EDH build, and all that.

    To loot or not ?

On why to loot, someone on the comments of the WTP put it very poignantly: "Your hand quality either stays the same or goes up"

General Great Cards to go deep on

Mizzix's mastery It's not really build around because it works with any spell (sorcery speed), but it definitely is a unique flavor: Big Spells. Seems like something that I could jump off the diving board for, raise my curve some to get the bombier effects.

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

I think the land of choice for balancing the effect but still allowing all 5 colors access is: mystifying maze Also applicable in the discussion on ETB's and balancing them

    To loot or not ?

The only bomb left in the deck is in lootings favor. If our cards are all bad and flat power level, might as well dig for that bomb. Also ow do we know we weren't on the dig plan before? Maybe we JUST successfully dug out the Blast? Especially when your supposition that digging harms our...

    To loot or not ?

We are just as likely to set up that critical mass by eot looting, and gain more chance of pulling way ahead. What card are you seriously concerned about milling? Hill giant? You've got basically just as much chance to gain our critical mass on our turn? To be more clear: our deck power level...

Play it in control as free uncounterable removal.

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

It just seems like a more exciting Increasing Confusion, which has already been mentioned more than once. That card operates exactly the same way (do "nothing" or win the game), and is/was run by at least a few people here. Startled Awake lets you do weird things with it, has that mini-puzzle...

    To loot or not ?

What I see: (this is from your remaining library. The only time you discard Blast is if you won the loot anyway and get CM). Cards you really want to find: 1 (CM) Cards you would rather not discard: 2 (Sift) Cards you are ok discarding: 12 (giant, drake, warrior, shock) Cards that welcome...

    General Fight Club

I think this is important to consider in evaluation of "random protection" clauses. Is it one color? Is it a unique effect? Having a blinding hatred of protection is fine, but maybe a little overzealous sometimes.

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

a couple points to take a look at: startled awake Some people run increasing confusion, right? Is this a weird, grindier version? Something I never noticed before: engulf the shore This card is an instant?? Hmm.. That seems pretty strong?

    General CBS

Fact imo too. "Consistency" and "Sequencing" being the first two concepts to pop into my head. Think it's important to mention that the spell power is also relevant. You can have a super low curve of super-not-impactful spells, or a slower cube of nuclear weapons (where if you slip up in a...

    General Custom Cards: The Lab

I've found the upside of basic land searching outweighs the vestiges. Gives {c} a more clear identity and partnership in Green, and allows my cube to more naturally accept the "sixth color". Your format may vary, obvs

    General Custom Cards: The Lab

Bummer. In that case the trigger might be nicer. However, the three cycling version lays out the options clearly. The trigger version is more lenticular because there's a leap, however small, in realizing that the ability has the options like that. Important to think about in terms of...

    General Custom Cards: The Lab

Without reminder text, the triple cycling land is much much cleaner in word count. Could be laid out as four rows. Add C Cycle Landcycle A Land cycle B

    General Custom Cards: The Lab

That's a pretty cool land. The secondary problem becomes that the lands cease to be seen as something that can generate {C}, because that flexible draw half is so good. Luckily I think I (again) found a design solution (tongue in cheek incoming): shivan reef
