mono-red: there's an old tournament report about this guy who played apocalypse back in the era of tolarian academy. i agree it's interesting that the red decks looked like that even then -- in fact, the concept of a 'mana curve' was invented by Tempest-block-era red players. this trend...
experientially he's pretty underpowered. like he's not even much of a bomb in limited -- an excellent rare, sure, but one they have a little time to answer.

Night's Whisper is a sweet one, I dunno what all the 'not an aggro card' talk is about with MBS standard vampires running Sign in Blood and so forth
Cutting Staggershock seems sacrilegious, like it hosed the FUCK out of aggro in Rise but that's cuz they'd spend a gazillion mana leveling a guy...
yeah, it's not a simple problem to solve (recognizing this puts us way ahead of the maximalists) as you don't want to "ban" too much. it's a pretty easy process for me, though -- when i revise i just take out all the cards that people don't pass or don't pick.
chris is right. ghostly prison...
haha nope. i wandered of my own accord into that cesspit-inferno past she-wolf and them bees in limbo
MTGS is the essence of scrubbiness. the entire point of that forum is to pretend that you're beyond the scope of criticism -- see also: game-store power nerds; EDH
my god, there's way too much for me to do justice to it, so i'll just say that i love the custom cards, especially the esper dude. have you checked out (i believe) ali aintrazi's custom cube? really awesome
jason -- re. double strikers you could always double up on silverblade, one of my...
'mystic' for me conjures up the not-so-great state of connecticut. if i may put on my Humbert Humbert literary caper cap right now, it's got to be some kind of elaborate pun, kind of like how LLANOwar suggests, paradoxically, a plains (dutch and flemish spelling: jan-o'-war) -- and yet avacyn's...
my fave anthem is Angel of Jubilation
i am also a fan of Marshal's Anthem, Wilt-Leaf Liege, Creakwood Liege, Master Biomancer, Mikaeus, the Lunarch etc
hey jim, welcome!
i think it's not so much low power level so much as it is flat power level that's to be pursued in cube. though of course it's impossible to have a flat power curve with power maximized as there aren't 360-720 "other skullclamps"
munch munch munch. one of our playgroup is addicted to modo drafting this set and is not losing a great deal. here are some findings:
the archetypes ended up being underpowered due to the steep power curve (limited-filler commons vs. powerhouse u/r/m reprints) -- read into that what you will...
Chan: yes (esp with Squawkies)
Chris: funny you say that, one of my favorite things about pike is that it doesn't require that much work to support
of course i'll say "with the lack of equipment that is neither unplayable nor stupid like skullclamp you gotta run both!!1" but you knew that
oooo nucky awwww yeah. how's that guy been working out for ya
gelectrode is cool, one of the finer bombs in RGD draft. i've mulled its inclusion over when i'm jonesin' for a second tim after cunning sparkmage but who knows.
devils is pretty cool.
dralnu just never really worked for me...
council of the absolute is a great "cock-tease" mythic w/r/t "i wanted a voice and all i got was this lousy [ten-mana card beloved by EDH players and other children]"
as far as legacy goes i'm about the hugest fan of Daze as it gets, but i have no love for Force Spike or Mana Tithe in cube...
