One Pack One Pick (p1p1 thread)

Gargadon/Rites, but I like Cagebreakers too that pack looks like it's at a fun power level

For Stifle to be good, it needs to be maindeckable. If the average deck in your Cube has a lot of stuff you'd want to Stifle (not just fetches but ETB/dies triggers, delayed blink triggers, abilities that require a big investment, etc), it should be good; maybe it's still just better in theory...

The Mario Maker race was awesome, some of my favourite games (OoT, Banjo Kazooie) are still to come

On the subject of Mesmeric Orb, I remembered a Modern deck that Sam Black (who I'm a massive fanboy of) built during the Treasure Cruise era: Ones 3 Thought Scour 1 Spell Snare 1 Oust 2 Condemn 4 Path to Exile 2 Elixir of Immortality Twos 2 Negate 1 Ratchet Bomb 1 Snapcaster Mage 4 Mesmeric...

    General Mana Base Brainstorm Thread

There's a serious point there - one of the biggest problems in Cube is that decks often demand Constructed-quality curves with a Limited-quality manabase, and this is more acute the faster your environment is - I actually saw wtwlf say on MTGS that CC cards should have a much higher bar for...

I like both. It depends on what play pattern you want to encourage: if you expect to have multiple dorks in play that get obsoleted quickly, I'd recommend Cloak as it's easy to keep suiting creatures up and always having the biggest thing on the board; if you expect to only have one relevant...

Discard is already sparse enough in Cube that there's no need to punish it; if the discard you run is that oppressive, I'd prefer to cut it (C. Wilt-Leaf Liege)

agree with this being a redeeming feature of Modern; in Cube there's comfortably enough room across Bant colours for a Flash deck like the ones we saw in ISD/RAV Standard

I'm glad someone mentioned Heartbeat, let's all marinate in the glory of this deck for a moment: Ones 4 Sensei's Divining Top Twos 4 Sakura-Tribe Elder 1 Rampant Growth 4 Remand 4 Muddle the Mixture 1 Savage Twister 1 Weird Harvest Threes 4 Heartbeat of Spring 4 Early Harvest 4 Kodama's...

    Card/Deck Eldrazi Spawns/Scions

So I believe Jason made a similar thread when first discussing the Eldrazi Domain Cube, but the idea of building around mini-drazi is appealing on a number of levels. - An on-tap morbid trigger can be very useful, both for actual morbid cards (Tragic Slip/Malicious Affliction, Brimstone...

Now that we have surge coming in to join fake surge (Illusory Angel) there might be a real incentive to play Probe. How have we not talked more about Oath of Nissa? It's less exciting for those of us who cut down on planeswalkers, but there's still part of me getting excited at Oath to find...

Geralf's Messenger is great; it's just about castable even if you're splashing another colour, whereas Obliterator demands that you be fully mono-black (and probably without utility lands like Nykthos or Mutavault, which are often a draw to staying in one colour)

    sharzad (safra's cube)

New Year drafto earlier! We did an 8-player draft that was us and a bunch of bots, I had a super-sweet 5C Pod deck: Lots of fun lines with this one; I missed a kill where I could Bring to Light for 5 to get Titania, bring back a fetch, then use that mana to Pod Titania into Aurelia We...
