    Sets Battle for Zendikar Spoilers

Is this the new Annihilator? It's kinda cool. Exile 4 lands off the top of your library, play land for turn, hit you with my 10/11 Steppe Lynx. GOTTEM.

    Card/Deck Black Sheep

Out of these three, I'd swap out Merfolk Looter for Jace. It has the least upside of the three you listed.

    Card/Deck Black Sheep

He's fantastic. I wasn't too sold on how good it would be until I saw it on camera at the SCG Open. It was trivially easy to flip and he was just a value machine all game long. Card filtering, flashing back a useful spell, and being able to slow down a single big threat is great utility. He...

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

Angler better than it looks, can confirm based off many DDF drafts. There's nothing better than being able to play creature + ridiculous cheap Angler on like T5 or T6 after trading one-for-ones for a few turns.

    Card/Deck Black Sheep

Not really a Black Sheep, but Defiant Strike has been overlooked by many people here imo. I've gone up to two in my cube and it's been pretty sweet. At worst, it cycles itself. At best? It creates some stupid fun Prowess shenanigans. Curving Seeker of the Way into Jhessian Thief. Defiant Strike...

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

Yeah, Yavimaya Hollow seems perfect for ULD. Too weak for main draft, but well worth a pick. Leaving up two mana to regen a dude seems fair to me. Shelldock and Volrath are both already in the main cube for me, both seem very worth an early pick in drafts. Gavony less so because it takes so long...

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

So it's two mana to drain one life. And it ETB tapped. Seems too slow in all but the most controlling of B/x decks. And even then, you might not have enough permanents on the field to activate since durdly decks like that often just want to wrath and reset over and over. Does seem like an okay...

    Card/Deck Black Sheep

I love Kiora, the Crashing Wave. I've seen her put in work in various games and she's a good card for anyone that ends up going Simic. My ideal Simic decks are more tempo-based, and Kiora +1 on a lone threat as a follow up on a T3 Man-O'-War is pretty solid.

    The TV Thread

I watch too much television. I'm rewatching Eastbound & Down, Danny McBride is amazing.

    General The Card Art Thread

It wasn't until now that I saw all the blue on the Shriekmaw art. Usually black pieces have some sort of mellow overtone or something purple.

Shriekmaw, I still don't know what I'm looking at.

General Is this results oriented thinking? (I lost.)

I would never look to hate draft unless it was later into the draft and I clearly saw something I couldn't deal with (like Silumgar, the Drifting Death in DDF draft). Sometimes you'll just lose to a bad matchup, it happens. There are games where there's literally nothing you can do. This won't...

Card/Deck Someone sell me on Birthing Pod (but first, long backstory)

I actually love Lone Missionary against aggro decks. The two power is crucial towards trading with another body, 4 life is basically a turn's worth of combat, and I can wombo-combo with Ojutai's Command and watch aggro players cry.

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

I'd go: Shriekmaw Murderous Redcap Skinrender Nekrataal And I've actually cut Nekrataal in favor of a 2nd Shriekmaw. I like the utility it allows for as a kill spell earlier in the game. It's conditional enough that it's not oppressive, and it the late game it comes down on a reasonable...

Card/Deck Someone sell me on Birthing Pod (but first, long backstory)

I don't think I've ever seen a super oppressive Pod deck here, and I've seen decks come together in like 3-4 different drafts. Valuable ETB creatures are a premium in whatever decks that are built, not just pod, so there's usually enough competition to avoid someone building the nut Pod deck.

Thinking of deep cuts to 540 list

Yeah, Wickerbough is awesome. A reasonably costed guy who turns into a decent 4/4 body after getting rid of a troublesome permanent. That's exactly the kind of removal I love.

Thinking of deep cuts to 540 list

Counterspell has been fine for me, but that's because I go out of my way to give control some buffs. If the typical U/W or U/B control decks can exist in your cube, I don't see why counterspell wouldn't be viable. Usually the walkers are the draw to blue in the first place, and once someone gets...

Thinking of deep cuts to 540 list

A favorite mechanic of mine (and many here) is Prowess specifically because it has helped to make combat more interesting. Turning any given instant card or non-creature spell on your turn into a +1/+1 boost is fantastic. And most of the cards are cheap as well. It encourages spellslinger (which...

Thinking of deep cuts to 540 list

Of your listed additions, I'm on board with all of them aside from Armageddon. It's been such a feel bad card for me whenever I've seen it cast (or casted it) and it's kind of hard to play around unless you're blue with counterspells. Like, all you need to do is drop a big guy or a walker at...

    Sets [ORI] Magic Origins Spoilers

This is Riptide Lab, thread titles mean nothing. I cut Wolfir a while back since he really was just a dumb beat who barfs 12 more power onto the board. There was no play to him at all, just dump him, make something huge, and swing. I guess that's fun for certain players, but not for me...
