I don't agree with your reasoning here, and I'm going to explain why, but I want to start by saying that your underlying position (committing to an additional color has to mean something) is totally valid. An undesired "5 color soup" problem plagues many Cubes, and that can often lead to...

    Card/Deck Low Power Card Spotlight

This card is so good, I love it. It's grave hate, fixing, and a cantrip all in one card. So much value. So much synergy. Great card, 10/10 would play again.

I can concur, the unique cards you lose from having more fixing is well and truly made up for by the wacky decks that can become viable with better fixing– especially if you're playing enough untapped lands to make multicolor aggro viable. A little bit of extra fixing goes a long way :D

I don't like Lier at all, I think she has a worse floor than Kess because she costs more and doesn't have built-in evasion, but has a higher ceiling because she lets you cast as many spells each turn as you can afford. Cards with high internal power bands usually do not fix the issues of...

Maybe I should use this slot to test Croaking Counterpart :texas::mp:

General Favorite Cards You Don't Run

You know, I've been playing this card a lot lately and it has been really fun. It's a nice chunky reanimation target that sets the opponent back when it enters or dies, but doesn't end the game so quickly that they just auto-lose for facing this. Being only a 5/5, this guy takes a little while...

    Inscho's Graveyard Combo Cube

I really like a lot of these changes, I think you generally cut a bunch of clunky cards and added things with broader flexibility and utility. I'm not a big fan of losing Boon of the Wish-Giver in a Cube with a heavy cycling/discard theme. It has one of the most flexible cycling costs around...

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

I think this card is much better than Fires of Yavimaya, but there are definitely better things Gruul can be doing. That said, I have always enjoyed playing with this card, and it's not terrible if your Cube has a 1-3-4 ramp curve. I wouldn't touch this if you're not on one mv mana dorks, though.

In this era, Arena will have been dead for several years. The only format supported by Wizards of the Coast will be paper Showcase Commander, where the only legal cards are ones printed with Showcase Frames. The Cube community will be all but dead, destroyed during the great reserved list wars...

    Sets (MID) Innistrad: Midnight Hunt

When this card was spoiled the first thing I thought was "this would have been good in Japahn's Cube." I can't remember why I didn't mention it here at the time, but I think this would be a really solid inclusion for you.

God I walk away for five minutes and the forums descend into the Female Armor debate. :edh:

Yeah. Realistically, expensive cycling cards are going to be used as cantrips more often than they are going to be cast, but the cast "mode" is relevant enough to make counting them as just their cycle cost inaccurate. They're almost like kicker cards in the sense that they can cost two mana...

    General CBS

For my categorizations, I leave cycling cards within the same category as their Mana Value, but I count the ones with a one or two mana cycle as cantrips. For example, Striped Riverwinder and Curator of Mysteries are in the 7 and 4 MV slots, respectively, but I count them towards the 15-20 card...

You could always make a house rule and give Moonmist the line of text "It becomes night." The spirit of the card remains the same, then.
