It's a great design. It's obviously good on turn one, but unlike other landfall cards, it isn't a horrible topdeck late, because then you can probably just activate it for the full amount and get something great back.

But what if they don't have a removal spell at their hands right now? A 4/4 first strike, lifelink, if it was just that, is very punishing in a lower powered cube like mine.

I'm kinda glad it doesn't since I am already on the fence whether it is too good or just fine for my cube :P

I am probably going to run Malevolent Rumble over Winding Way. It doesn't have the high roll potential of the latter, but it offers you a little more card selection and the Spawn token is huge, because it can help you ramp.
