    Article BGN Cube Review

While Whelming Wave is a sorcery and you are going second in the "new game" it still won me every game I got to cast it in the prerelease. At least for lower powered cubes I think it's good. You just play it in the type of decks where you're going to have a mana advantage. My most memorable time...

    Card/Deck Cogwork Librarian

I'm definitely going to be running him (but not proxying before it's available) and it'll be without errata. I think he's fine as is. I'm okay with him being a poor card to put into your actual deck because of how awesome he is during draft and because it encourages a sort of hot potato feel to it.

    General Mix and Match Cube

We have a draft tomorrow, so I'm likely to do at least the first rough pass at making this into my cube today/tonight. At first I thought that I wouldn't do lands, but after thinking about it, I think lands are possibly the single most important one to do. The problem I've been having with...

    Card/Deck Red Tokens

That's where I'd go with it. There are tons of spells that are good and don't need BTE but get better with BTE. In color, every burn spell ever printed comes to mind. Blue seems like a good second color with brainstorm, ponder, preordain, being able to leave up counterspells and incidentally...

    General Custom Cards: The Lab

I'm not trying to make green control a thing. Amusingly, at the BTG prerelease I got into a board state where I was effectively playing mono red control vs blue aggro. Almost any color can play control in limited under the right circumstances.

    General Custom Cards: The Lab

You are, but that only puts it on par with Divination, not better than. When it's better than Divination (which isn't always) it's better in a very green way, so I think it's fine. I'm not R&D though, so it's just an opinion in the end.

    General Custom Cards: The Lab

I think it's pushed vs divination, but isn't straight up better. Divination is in blue, which should be better at card draw. And divination is better at drawing gas. The green version requires a reveal. It's a marginal downside, to be sure, but it does keep it not technically as good. The...

I would play that in some decks. And I don't think it's OP. Good balance there.

Site News Inaugural RipLab draft: February 9th (Sunday)

It'll be the cube listed as "My Primary Cube" in your signature? Trying to convince myself to convince my wife that this is a good thing...

    General The Constructed thread

It was noncreature instead of nonland, so you can hit lands. With the right general, you can blink it easily. It's a repeatable, one sided Armageddon. I haven't played EDH in far too long, but I can see how it could be ridiculously broken.

    General Mix and Match Cube

FlowerSunRain: You nailed my own feelings on the head. In fact, it was at least partially this sometimes-good-sometimes-bad thing that inspired it, as you'll see in the second paragraph. As for mechanics, blue is the section that has the most ideas so far. I like +1/+1 counters, which is...

    General Mix and Match Cube

For every color I have three or four mechanics that I want to see in the cube. They don't fit. Because of that, cuts are hard and I can't seem to settle on a mechanic. My wife got me this box for the cube (it's doesn't QUITE fit unfortunately)...

    I hate everything you like

The film was good. The writing in the songs was excellent. The music in the songs was excellent. His voice was just always slightly out of key. I can't remember where I heard this, but it rang SO true when I first heard it: "Why did David Bowie write songs that he's incapable of singing?"

    General Custom Cards: The Lab

Mom in general seems miserable to play against. Flash Mom was aiming for roughly same power level (not on board for first activate, but costs an additional {1}{W}) but I may have missed there. I definitely agree that the buddies are begging to be broken. The Elf one is probably going to be...

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

I don't know how generally powerful your cube is, but it passes the sniff test I apply to retail limited. A 3/3 for 3 is something you're never embarassed to run, it has added utility, and is in colors that often want to overextend. Also is a soldier which sometimes matters. It might be picked...

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

Somehow I didn't notice your reply until Jason quoted you. Sliped past my radar. Sorry! I like it. It's starting to look like there's enough disparate power cards to enable this type of thing. I have confirmed that you can only cast the spells from Kaho once (without even more combo parts) so...

    Card/Deck Supporting latent tribal.

I don't know why it always surprises me to learn that Magic sites/podcasts/everything are named after cards I didn't know about. I thought Limited Resources was just talking about resources for limited players and couldn't possibly be a card ntil recently. Crazy Magic players... (that's a...

    Card/Deck Supporting latent tribal.

I wasn't aware of that card. A second lord and a token generator make me like it more than Archdruid. I'm not sure how many lords (and by lord here I mean things encouraging you to play more elves, not necessarily buffers) you'd want, but I think it's might be more than two.
