I... wha.... I have never SEEN that card before!

I definitely wouldn't call Demonic Tutor "interesting" but I feel it's necessary if you want to even halfheartedly support anything combo-like. I've recently gone up to two and one of the combo decks I purposefully put into the cube went off for the first time ever almost immediately after that...

    Rogue Community Cube

I've been chatting with a guy named Kevin Crimin (aka Rogue Deckbuilder on YouTube) because I may be doing some work for him, and I mentioned this site and cubing in general. That in turn inspired an idea where a bunch of (especially, not exclusively) YouTube Magic players would get together to...

    General Single-Color Megasealed

Had a meeting today with my main play group. I had just ordered some cards to shore up my blue and red, which got us talking about how strong the different colors are. Next thing I knew we were all grabbing a color and making a deck out of the cards as if the color sections were one big sealed...

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

That seems logical if everyone has the same curve. What I don't like about Clash is that it's so hard in limited to set up a deck to take advantage of it. I suppose you could make that deck possible by doubling down on Evoke creatures and other things that you can get value out of for less than...

General Abstract: What do you wish was better about your cube's design?

It's not the worst, but if you're trying to push through damage with big beefy ground creatures (this is red green after all) a single 1/1 bird token can still ruin your day. That is probably the closest to the "always useful" mode that Gruul Charm has though.

General Abstract: What do you wish was better about your cube's design?

I went back through and I was oversimplifying. 5/10 have inarguable always-useful modes. 3-4 of the others have abilities that overlap such that at least one of them is going to be useful in 99% of board states. Rakdos Charm is the oddball out that is rarely useful and makes me sad.

General Abstract: What do you wish was better about your cube's design?

All of the charms have a "bare minimum" mode that's always at least something. Cycling is that mode on Azorius Charm, and it's the best of the bare minimum modes.

    General CBS

It interacts with their starting counters, like FSR said. It doesn't do anything when you +X them. It's a pretty finicky interaction.

They could, but it'd be a pretty massive change. TNN defined a term that had no technical meaning yet (protection from a player). Making Planeswalker loyalty be just a number would kill interactions with Proliferate, Doubling Season, Vampire Hexmage, etc. Making some sort of bizarro negative...

That's far from the biggest problem with this card. Loyalty isn't an arbitrary number, it's literally counters. You can't remove more counters than it has, therefore it can never actually go negative, it can only go to zero. It bugs me when people decide that they're going to make custom...

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

I saw the non-keyworded Flash and that it was a creature and assumed it would be garbage like most older creatures. Then I read the text box. Sure, it needs a specific deck but that thing's value town! Of course, if you're running rampant with Pyroclasm-style effects it might still be pretty bad.

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

How would that work? The way I see it the first ability would resolve, you'd draw a card and put Top on your library, then the second ability would resolve and you'd draw the Top and the second part wouldn't happen because it lost track of where the Top went. Edit: Oh! You have to mix the...

The idea being that you respond to your own top activation by activating it again, thereby drawing a card AND the top again?

I don't have, so haven't run, that exact card. I do run the very similar Illusionist's Bracers and it has been pretty disappointing. I think Rings is a better card though and the differences may well make it playable. I'm still sore from Bracers when one of my players came up with a ridiculous...

Not sure how common these are, but the cards that were better than expected from a quick glance: Vitalize Surprise blockers are never bad. Goes along with a blue subtheme on utility creatures. Strionic Resonator I was on the fence about this, then me and a buddy went through looking at how...

I feel like a complete idiot now. That does in fact work sensibly. For some reason I thought it was just going to tell me "Forest" and not tell me which editions.

Unfortunately my actual cube was never up to date on CubeTutor (so I removed the link in my sig), AND I only run cards that I own so my theoretical cube and my actual cube are far different. I don't own *any* Storm cards or Treachery-like cards in paper, so they aren't in my cube. One day I'll...

No idea what is considered necroing around here, but this feels better than starting a new thread. I'm in love with the art for basics in sixth edition. Luckily, it seems like they all were reused later in black border, but it's a pain in the butt trying to find all editions of land to use a...

General What are the best green cards in your cube?

Might also make a difference that we usually wind up with three players and play free for all. I'm usually the most innocuous looking person when I cast Overrun. But I think I've convinced myself that the right course of action would be to specifically ask instead of relying on volunteered...
