I think none of the three-color commanders should be better than the two-color commanders, because you're already getting access to an extra color! Why would I pick Niv-Mizzet if I can pick Kess, or Aesi if I can pick Chulane, for example?

Leaders are better glue, and great (or even crucial in some cases) for ensuring a certain density of themes, but bosses get to reward you more for the archetype they support, and are thus great incentives to pursue those archetypes.

I think your original version was a little more confusing than this tbh :) It didn't target, it didn't reference the chosen creature in the bullets but simply said "+2/+0", it had more option, and it had entwine ;)
