Sets [KTK] Khans of Tarkir Spoilers

Yeah, I'm not big on clones, either, except maybe for the actual OG Clone. They sometimes create fun gameplay puzzles to solve, but just as often they punish a green player for going over the top, with very little effort. They're also pretty bad against the Goblin Guide or Champion of the Parish...

    Article ChannelFireball: Utility Land Draft

Yeah, I'm with you. I think Reaches and Wildwood are pretty easy cube cuts, regardless of whether they make it to the utility draft. My main list has: 2x Shocklands (20) 2x Fetches (20) 1x WWK Manlands (5) 1x Mutavault 1x Reflecting pool And then my utility pile has, for fixing: 2x...

The fact that this is a promo... might mean it's not horrible?

Celestial Colonnade Creeping Tar Pit Lavaclaw Reaches Raging Ravine Stirring Wildwood Are the Worldwake manlands a better fit for the utility draft, or the main cube? I've been running mine in the main list for a long time, but someone remarked last night that they weren't quite cutting it...

General Decks that have 3-0'd your cube

Yeah, people have tried the "lol all planeswalkers" deck before, but never in a mono-red burn shell (!). People were either dying to its initial beatstick-and-bolt-you plan, and when that didn't pan out, people struggled to contain a Chandra followed up with a Ral Zarek and a Koth.

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

Aether Searcher Anyone else tried this card yet? I had it tonight, with an Angel of Despair 'imprinted' on it, but was thoroughly underwhelmed. There were a number of times where my Angel had been discarded, milled, or had died, and my Aether Searcher did a whole lot of nothing. I had high...

General Decks that have 3-0'd your cube

Bouncelands are part of my utility draft now. I stole Jason's <Temple of Choice> technology, and am applying it with 2x <Bounceland of Choice> and 2x <Painland of Choice>, for control and aggro, respectively. Yeah, I think both Kiora and Raging Ravine might've been ambitious. He wiped the...

Sets [KTK] Khans of Tarkir Spoilers

As far as BioWare games go, I think it's really hard to top the Mass Effect games.

    General 12-Card Packs

Yeah, 12x4 is great for six players, I've found. I used to do 11x4, but found that the deck quality was noticeably lower than in our 8-mans, so I bumped it up by a card a pack. It makes deckbuilding a tad harder, as Diakonov posited, but I think it's worthwhile for the improved deck synergies...

Sets [KTK] Khans of Tarkir Spoilers

I dunno. I played it the year it came out - I still have my boxed copy stashed somewhere in my parents' basement, it must be worth something! - and felt that FF6 was way better, too. I guess for context, FF6 is one of my favourite games of all time, while I think that Chrono Trigger is merely...

Sets [KTK] Khans of Tarkir Spoilers

Yeah, I was kind of afraid to say it (for fear of typecasting myself), but the {W} 1/2 outlast guy is the one I'm far and away the most excited for. It seems like it'd be great in both the midrange and control matchups, and wouldn't be horrible when you're trying to do an aggro rushdown, either...

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

Yeah, hybrid is your friend here. Ashenmoor Gouger Creakwood Liege Nightveil Specter Sygg, River Cutthroat Toss in a Gray Merchant and an Erebos, and you should be almost good to go.

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

Right, this card ties more into combo archetypes than anything else. If your plan is to just attack with Gravecrawlers, or to keep the board clear with Damnations before one of your finishers mops up, Necropotence may not be what you want. If, on the other hand, you need another Timetwister-like...

Temur kind of sounds like a leg bone, at least. They should've had its enemy clans be Fibia and Tibula.

Wurms are not worms!!! They don't just go rooting around in soil, dirt, and feces. That'd be like asking a tiger to roll around and wallow in a mud pit.

Say what you will about all those other iconic creature types, but I'm fully behind hydras in green. It's a great natural fit.

General Best designed Magic card of all time

I'm with you on this. Toolboxes are both awesome and fun for deckbuilding. Birthing Pod makes thing a little too easy in constructed and a little too hard in limited for my liking, but stuff like Green Sun's Zenith, Trinket Mage, Knight of the Reliquary, Ranger of Eos, and Stoneforge...

General It could happen in any number of formats

Right. They're a safe choice, even if the owner doesn't end up running them in their final forty. It's really hard to justify committing to a coloured card when you have the option of a colourless sword.
