Sets [KTK] Khans of Tarkir Spoilers

Holy crap, this card already sounds confusing as hell. Is it a common...? I can't make out the expansion symbol colour in that picture. edit: Okay, rare. Phew.

what does it say that I'm the only one in my playgroup who still makes the mistake of trying to level up Treespeaker end of turn and then having to be corrected

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

I agree that Midnight Haunting was better than I expected it to be in the brief period I ran it. There are so many good white threes, though, not the least of which are Lingering Souls and Spectral Procession.

General Best designed Magic card of all time

It might not have ruined Standard, but I'd argue that it warped the environment around it for the next two years. From a burn perspective, they had to go out of their way to design cards that wouldn't be embarrassing when included side-by-side in a deck with bolt, so we were treated to other...

You kind of want Gather the Townsfolk if you have any human tribal going on, though.

General Best designed Magic card of all time

Dauntless Dourbark Okay, okay, I know that it's not the 'best designed Magic card ever' by any objective standards. But it's such an obvious Timmy build-around, and got me back into Magic after an eleven-year break, because I took one look at it and thought "holy crap, creatures are amazing now".

Don't forget how bad Conflux was, though, not unlike Journey into Nyx and Born of the Gods. The real question should be, what third sets were worthwhile where the second sets didn't suck?

Do Us A Favour! Please Turn Off AdBlock

So we're giving advertising a second go on the site, because hey, there are bills that need to be paid. Yeah, they'll uglify the currently-quite-pretty forum templates a bit, but that's kinda the price we gotta pay. If you're a regular here, or even if you're just a lurker who has benefited...

Sets [KTK] Khans of Tarkir Spoilers

I think City of Brass has a very real cost; the fact that Mana Confluence is being used sparingly in Standard right now while painlands have been more widely adopted should attest to that. For cubes that are heavy on fetches and shocks especially, players quickly realize there's something of a...

    General Beginner Mistakes

I'm going to put on my Mod Hat here, and agree with Grillo. This is a pretty small community, so there's no need to get up in each other's face over small differences in cube design philosophy like this. Lucas, I hate to say it, but calling everyone and everything a 'baby' just makes you look...

    General Fixing Mulligans, Improving Games

Yeah, that was actually the first of two things that Hearthstone does for the player on the draw. Maybe I got too caught up in the Lotus Petal bit, whereas this avenue might be worth exploring.

Card/Deck Shit Thread: Planeswalker Tier List

Ral and Ajani are often better in control than aggro; I mean, aggro decks are usually trying to fill out their creature curves, and four-mana walkers are interchangeable with finishers like Hellrider. Garruk - in all forms and flavours - is better suited for midrange, and I think everyone agrees...

    General You Go Away Now

I think Batterskull becomes more fair the higher powered your cube is, but if you're set on a specific power level, there probably isn't a lot of wiggle room to fit in a mostly unanswerable bomb. You could probably hang onto the Griselbrand, to be safe. There's fun things to be done with him...

Card/Deck Shit Thread: Planeswalker Tier List

Ah, but that's just your bias showing again. Aggro decks need some walkers to mess around with, too - there are very few of them to begin with. Even if an anthem a turn doesn't set your heart a flutter, there are a lot of other players out there who love this kind of effect, which is uniquely white.

    Sets [M15] Magic 2015 Spoilers

Heh, yeah, Hyppies were no longer terrorizing players in 2007 the same way they were in 1994. Spectral Procession tokens, though. I was usually the white weenie player, and a giant 7/7 reach blob was not what I wanted to see.

Sets [KTK] Khans of Tarkir Spoilers

Yeah, raid seems awesome, both from a mechanics and a flavour perspective. Gotta hand it to them - they are the professionals for a reason. It's a lot less narrow then bloodthirst, which was a pretty decent mechanic itself. That blue morph probably isn't cubeable, but I adore the callback to...
