4 mana just happens to be what a lot of sweet but fairly interchangeable cards cost. Examples: Red haste creature. Counterspell with upside. Big card draw spell. White card advantage creature. Green creature. Planeswalker.

I actually only run Xenagod. Planeswalker Xenagos isn't quite special enough to be worth adding a a) gold b) 4-drop imo.
